Picked these up when they were offered for free.
The Unicorn Doll one is one of those lesson books and the artwork is far better than the plot.
Good Night Little Unicorn is interesting because while it features an princess who is an owl, it is quite clear that the owl is a poc. Which I know sounds strange, but sometimes in animal books the animal is coded a certain way. It was nice to see poc instead of white. Tonya is smart, and her parents are loving. Its a good book.
Santa's Dog is sweet and a good Christmas story.
FYI - the Pedro Cervantes book is still free in the US.
I don't read or speak Spanish, and I brought the Cervantes book largely because I wanted to look at more of his artwork. The book does include a timeline and an essay. The photos of his works are quite good, and with a price of zip, well worth it.
Circles of Delight - is, sadly, no longer free. Shepherd is better known for his children's version of various fables and fairy tales. This book is a look at the carousels in San Fran. The history of the carousels is short, but the photos are beautiful. I love that he paid attention to areas of the actual structure as well as the mounts.

I'm kind of a sucker for spooky cutesy things, so it was no surprise that I was immediately drawn to this book when I saw it at the library.
This book is just the right amount of creepy with lots of cuteness and humor thrown in to lighten it up. Fun intro to the series that sets up the characters and the main storyline. You don't find out much about Crimson in this one, but that only makes me more excited to read the second book. I found that there was just enough to keep me interested, yet enough held back to make me want to continue reading.
I also really enjoyed the artwork. Good balance of creepy and colorful. It's not all drab and down. The illustrations are lovely with great detail.
I already have a request at the library for book two and I can't wait to read it and learn about Crimson, her mysterious past, and her new friends.
