A Bewitching Christmas by Amanda J. Greene
A Bewitching Christmas - Amanda J. Greene

At a little under one hundred pages, this novella starts off the Under Realm Assassins series. Readers are introduced to a world where supernatural beings are all aware of one another but still exist undercover. Cole is a vampire and an Under Realm Assassin, a group even whispered about by the other supernatural and Analette is a witch from one of the most powerful families. This started off really interesting with dangerous and mysterious Cole on the hunt and Analette breezing in shaking up his world. Their attraction happens pretty quickly but in a novella, that is unavoidable. I did like our two characters together, though. Their first encounter had good back and forth, their bedroom scenes had some heat, and overall, there was a certain magnetism to them. As the first in the series, it laid out an interesting world of supernaturals and the Under Realm Assassins that lurk below the surface.

Analette swallowed hard then wet her dry lips. “Yes, Cole. Yes, anything. J–just make it good.”

"Oh, sweetheart, I’ll make it fucking life changing.”

A Bewitching Christmas
by Amanda J. Greene

I received a gifted copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed in this review is 100% my own.

What do a witch and a vampire have in common? Under normal circumstances absolutely nothing. However, in A Bewitching Christmas, it’s a werewolf.

Cole McRae is a vampire and an assassin for the Under Realm Society. Currently, he is tracking a werewolf named Trent aka Silver. Silver is a notorious magic thief and is considered dangerous. A magic thief is someone who murders witches to obtain their magic. His intended target in Analette Dyson. He had worked his way into her life, eventually becoming her fiancé. It was her intention to introduce him to her family. However, she caught him in a compromising situation with another female. She decided to drown her sorrows in the local bar. While there she met the devastatingly handsome and sexy Cole McRae. There was an immediate and mutual attraction and, they decided to explore it, if only for one night.

Analette and Cole complemented each other. Analette considered herself to be boring and predictable. However, she intended to change that by spending a night in the arms of a vampire. Being with Cole allowed her to embrace her wild side. Cole's life was filled with darkness. He was damaged and incapable of having any emotional attachment. However, after spending a night in Analette's arms, he felt alive. Will these two wounded souls be able to move past their pain and embrace what the future holds for them?

Connecting with the characters was not a difficult feat. I understood the emotional trauma that they had both experienced. Cole’s experience prevented him from opening himself to the possibility of love. Analette’s experience prevented her from fully embracing her true nature as a witch. She gave up on practicing magic, which made her susceptible to the likes of Trent.

The story, although short was spicy, steamy and suspenseful. It packed a whole lot of punch that it kept me on my toes. The story was fast-paced and compelling. I could not wait to see how it would end. The vivid descriptions gave the story a realistic feel. This made for an enjoyable read.

This is my first time reading Amanda Greene's work and, it will not be my last. I believe that this a great start to the series. This story is not only suitable for Christmas but also for anytime of the year. I can't wait to see what next Ms. Greene as in store for her fans.

Surrender to the Chase (Under Realm Assassins #2) by Amanda J. Greene
Surrender to the Chase (Under Realm Assassins Book 2) - Amanda J. Greene

Assassin, Ethan Halstead, is back to work a year after the death of his friend. His first assignment is to return a runaway werewolf, Fraya, to her pack.

Surrender to the Chase was an exciting and fast-paced novella that had me entranced.

I enjoyed Ethan’s character. He blames himself for his friend’s death even though he is not at fault. He is good at his job, which is no wonder with as long as the vampire has lived. He is courageous, clever, and protective.

Freya is a great character. I cannot blame her for leaving her pack. Her father/Alpha is twisted. Her ex-boyfriend, Ferguson, is also a piece of work. She has not had luck with meeting an honorable man until Ethan. Being a rare female wolf she was guarded and not really allowed to lead a fulfilling life. I felt bad for her situation and was glad she ran away. She is strong and caring.

Ferguson is a cunning and cruel adversary. He is easy to dislike and makes an excellent bad-guy.

I enjoyed Amanda J. Greene’s writing style and plot. The entire story had a great flow and was interesting from beginning to end. This novella is a fast read packed with content and excitement. Surrender to the Chase is an excellent addition to the Under Realm Assassins Series.

A Forbidden Love.
Caressed by Shadows - Amanda J. Greene

ARC generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

Rating ~ 4 stars.

This is the fourth book in the Rulers of Darkness series. The series involves the stories of each ruler of the different vampire clans. All the rulers have a time limit on their reign as after two hundreds the curse starts affecting their lives and they are longer capable of taking care of themselves let alone leading their clans. The book is about the remaining ruler and only queen in the vampire clans Sonya and a black knight Falcon.

Falcon Kenwrec is a black knight and second in heir for the Hadrian King of the Validus Clan who was the hero in the previous book Caressed by a Crimson Moon. He is very fiercely loyal which was shown in the last book as he rather than take the crown himself kept the peace in clan and remained loyal to his sire Hadrian who at that time was going mad.

Falcon's internal monologue: "He would barter what remained of his soul to save his Sonya."

Sonya Rebane is the Queen of the Voidukas Clan, known as the warrior queen. She is also the reason that there are no longer any werewolves in the world because she killed all of them because of them butchering her family. She has been in love with Falcon since meeting him years ago.

Sonya to Falcon: "I’ve loved you for two hundred years and I will never stop loving you,”

They have in love with each other since meeting fifteen hundred years ago. And with every moment that passes their love for each other grows. Though they have denying their love because a black knight and the queen can't be together and the punishment for which is quite severe.

Falcon: “You would be stripped of your title and banished as an outcaste,” he said, his voice low and rough.
Sonya: “And you would be sentenced to death.”

In the last book, Sonya allows herself to be kidnapped by the witches because of the shaman. Falcon goes alone to save her. Which was good not in the sense that poor Falcon had to save her without any help which he did quite splendidly I believe but because it gave them time alone together.

This a book that I had been waiting for quite a while now and I do think that the author did the character and their story justice. From the get go we see the connection that Sonya and Falcon have. As the story progressed we see how much they truly love and care about each other. There are some interesting twists and turns to keep the reader guessing of how and if they would actually end up together.

We see glimpses of other future couples like the shaman witch and Gabriel's second and Gabriel's and the singer girl from the bar I believe will be his heroine.

Overall I really liked the book, the book has action, some sexy times and some emotional moments. The book had the right amount of everything to make it a great PNR read. I can't wait for Gabriel's book who I believe will get the next book. Happy reading!
