I've been pretty proud of myself; I've cut way back on book spending the last couple of months and haven't felt it at all.  Partly because of the TBR That Ate Melbourne, but also my discovery of Melbourne's underground charity used book sales and my local library.

But these were books I had to have for my own shelves and unlikely to find down under.

I found out a few months ago, much to my extreme amazement, that the city I was born in has its own school of architecture - wikipedia recognized and everything!  ;-)  My sister-in-law is an architect in Brisbane, which is almost as tropical as Florida, and shares a design aesthetic.  I bought Sarasota Modern by Andrew Weaving for her birthday last month, and when it arrived, I had to have my own copy.

Keeping with the Florida theme, I had to pick up Best. State. Ever.: A Florida Man Defends His Homeland by Dave Barry because somehow in the last decade or so my home state seems to have become that state.  I wanted a reminder of the delightful quirky, instead of the batshit quirky.

A Passion for Books by Harold Rabinowitz and Rob Kaplan is a book I discovered at the library and loved so much I had to have a copy for my own library.  If you love books as physical objects as well as love reading, I recommend checking this one out.
