HOW A MOUSE SAVED THE ROYAL CAT by Kurt Zimmerman
How a Mouse Saved the Royal Cat - Kurt Z... How a Mouse Saved the Royal Cat - Kurt Zimmerman,Michelle Zimmerman

Cashew, a royal cat, is afraid of mice. The king decided there were too many mice and decided to have a contest between all the royal cats. The one who captured the most mice would be able to stay at the castle while the rest would have to go. The mice heard about it and were worried. What could they do? Is Cashew on his way out as a royal cat?

I loved this story. It was so cute. Cashew is adorable. I liked Herman, a mouse. I liked how they communicated though there was a language barrier. They came up with a solution and worked towards it. This is perfect for your 3-8 year old.

Important, thoughtful memoir for young readers
Ugly: My Memoir - Robert Hoge

I got this text for a fellowship program on disability studies and found it very touching and challenging as it made me think about how I consciously and unconsciously judge others for looking different.

This is written for young readers (8-12) and I am going to send it to my 11-year-old godson as it's just a really funny and thoughtful look at what it means to grow up looking, as the author calls it, ugly.

It ends a bit abruptly but overall it's really engaging and thought-provoking.

THE SPACE BETWEEN by Kiki Thorpe
The Space Between - Kiki Thorpe,Jana Christy
The girls go back home but Milkweed, a mouse, seems to come through with them.  Mia's cat seems to be missing now.  Then Lainey discovers a breach in a fence near their homes.  Lainey goes back and finds Mia's cat who is reeking havoc in Never Land among the fairies.  What is going on?

I enjoyed the girls finding a breach in the area between earth and Never Land.  I also liked them fixing what the cat has done to the fairies.  I like that there will be more stories between the girls and Never Land.  This is perfect for an young elementary school reader.  All with Tinkerbell and the other fairies.

PETE THE CAT AND THE BAD BANANA by James Dean
Pete the Cat and the Bad Banana (My First I Can Read) - James Dean,James Dean
Pete the Cat loves bananas but he gets a bad one and refuses to eat any more until the day of his big marathon race.  He then learns to love them again.

I enjoy Pete the Cat.  He is funny.  He knows what he likes and will not accept anything less.  He has to relearn to trust again.

PETE THE CAT PLAY BALL by James Dean
Pete the Cat: Play Ball!: My First I Can Read - James Dean
Pete is playing baseball and playing the best he can.  He runs, he hits, he catches (kinda).  He roots with the best.

A fun story for the beginning reader.  Pete just tickles me.  He is so nonchalant about things.  I love him.
