Cherished Mercy
Cherished Mercy - Tracie Peterson Cherished Mercy - Tracie Peterson * I received a copy from the publisher for review. This does not affect my review.*

While I haven't read the other books in this series, I found it easy to follow along with the events with this one. I wasn't sure I would enjoy this, as I'm picky about this genre. That said, I really enjoyed this one! I loved reading Mercy's tragic story, and her sense of purpose. Her quest for peace leads her to Adam, who she becomes romantically involved with. I normally don't like romance as a genre, but the rest of the story made this one an interesting read. I wasn't crazy about how race was portrayed as 'sides' in this story, but I understand the reasoning was was able to overlook it after hearing Mercy's story.

For Elea, there’s never been a better time to turn away from witch life. The Tsar is in exile. The Vicomte is dead. And Rowan? Falling for him only broke her heart. Instead of casting spells, Elea spends her days running Braddock Farm and enjoying the flirtations of the very handsome and non-magical Philippe. Everything is going perfectly, except for one problem.

Someone’s trying to kill her.

Shujaa is a Changed One, a Creation Caster mage whose mutated form makes him invincible in battle. Now that the Tsar and Vicomte are gone, Shujaa wants to rise and rule. To do so, he must eliminate all those powerful enough to oppose him, and Elea is top on his list. Anyone who offers her aid quickly ends up dead.

In the end, there’s only one person who can keep Elea safe while helping her defeat Shujaa: Rowan. Like it or not, Elea must team up with her old love. With Philippe along for the ride, Elea plans to team with Rowan without losing her heart this time. But that’s when all her plans fall apart…

When I woke up again, it was still night. Rolling onto my side, I propped my head on my hand. For a time, I watched Rowan’s chest slowly rise and fall as he lay beside me. Moonlight shifted over his handsome features. He looked better, but still not back to full strength.
He cracked open his right eye. “I can’t sleep with you staring at me.”
“I’ll look away.” I didn’t, though.
Rowan opened both his eyes and stretched his arms over his head. “How long have we been asleep?”
“I’m not really sure.”
Rowan frowned. “What has you worried?”
“Your mother. She’ll try to cause trouble.”
I stared at Rowan’s handsome face in the moonlight and then did what was possibly the most Zuchtlos action of my life. I leaned over and kissed him. Rowan’s mouth was as soft and delicious as I remembered. I suppose my impulsivity could have ended there, but it didn’t. I rolled atop him so our bodies lay flush against each other. Our kiss deepened. Rowan’s warm hands slid up my back. Words started tumbling from my mouth. “I’ve never slept with a man before.”
Rowan narrowed his eyes. “What’s this about?”
I moved to straddle his waistline. “You know what I mean.”
“If we have sex, you’re as good as married to me.” Rowan’s gaze turned intense. “You have to choose this, Elea.”
“I do. Really.”
“Our bodies say otherwise. We haven’t shared energy.”
A shiver of doubt moved up my spine. “Maybe we can’t.”
“We already did. With Viktor.”
“Your mother says it’s not possible for the energy to go both ways. You can only give me your power.”
“In that case, we definitely can. If something is good for me, then she goes out of her way to ensure it won’t happen.”
“She also says I drain you.”
A muscle ticked along Rowan’s jaw. “That’s my choice.”
“What do you mean? Please tell me.”
“When you’re ready, we will bond. I have no doubt of that. And I want a real mating. One that changes everything. A true mating transforms how we kiss, how we fight. It’s worth waiting for. You’re worth waiting for.”
My eyes stung with held-in tears. “How do you know that?”
“You’ve been in love with me from the first time you saw me, same as I fell in love with you.”
“That’s not possible.”
“We’re both people with heavy burdens who carry them for others. We give much to our people, but for ourselves? We have only each other.”
My hands were splayed on Rowan’s chest. I stared at my mating ring. “Then why can’t I share energy with you?”
“For some of us, love is easy. But trust? That takes longer.”
A chill crept over my skin. His words hit the mark inside me. When I spoke again, my voice was a rough whisper. “Trust does take longer. Tristan betrayed me.”
“With the curse.”
I nodded. “Everyone says that our relationship is impossible.”
Rowan wrapped his hands around mine. “What do you want, Elea?”
“I want to sleep with you.”
A small smile rounded his full lips. “No.”
“You’re a damned noble menace, you know that? Why can’t you take advantage of a girl like a normal person?”
“You know why. And if the situation were different, you wouldn’t take advantage, either.”
“Maybe I would.”
“Then take me. I won’t stop you.”
I reached toward the waistline of his leathers and stopped. “But you want to wait.”
Rowan arched his brow. “You see? Pleasant as this would be, I know you too well. You’re only trying to prove that I’m as evil as everyone else. I take advantage and I lose you.” His gaze turned intense again. “And I won’t lose you.”
All of a sudden, voices sounded from the courtyard outside the window. People were yelling. I rushed to the window and looked outside. Casters were scurrying about everywhere. Bells began to ring.
Someone pounded on the door. “It’s Kade. Is Rowan awake?”
“I’m up,” called Rowan.
“You’re needed right away,” called Kade. “A battle is coming.”
“There’s no point asking you to stay out of this fight, is there?” asked Rowan.
“Not at all.”
“Good.” He winked. “We make a good team.”

REVIEW BY MERISSA - Cherished (Beholder #3) by Christina Bauer
Cherished - Christina Bauer
Cherished is the third book in the Beholder series, and we start with Elea back home on Brannock Farm and trying once again to fit in with her neighbours. She has Phillipe with her this time though, and he tries to smooth things along as best he can. Phillipe has wanted things to change between himself and Elea, but she still sees him as her brother being as her heart still belongs to Rowan, even after everything. Of course, things happen that send Elea back to Rowan, where they find out just who exactly is working against them this time.
I want to talk so much about this, but I don't want to give out any spoilers! Suffice it to say, there are shocks galore in this book. People that had played a minor but significant role in the past, suddenly become players in the present, and not always on Elea's side. I loved Rowan and Elea in this book, as once again they prove that they are stronger together.
This is an amazing story that continues to grip and entice the reader into another world. Honestly can't wait for the next book in this series now, and I will keep on holding onto the HEA that I hope Elea and Rowan will get! Definitely recommended by me.

Cherished - Christina Bauer After having her heat broken by Rowan and losing her best friend Elea is so tired of magic and just wants to live the great life of a farmer on Braddock Farm. Braddock Farm was left to her by her parents when she was just a little baby. Elea has no member of her parents and the farm is the only thing she has from them. And with the Tsar and the Vicomte dead now Elea plans to do just that with the help of her new friend Philippe.

But someone wants Elea dead, a Creation Caster Shujaa. Shujaa wants to the King and rule over the Caster lands. But in order to be the king he must fight the ruling king to the death for the title and Elea will do everything in her power to keep this from happening even fighting as the king’s second.

I loved getting to meet Rowan’s family. I loved his little brother Jicho he is so cute and smart and loves his big brother Rowan very much. I also liked his other brother Kade as well. But his mom Zoriah now I wasn’t so fund of her she is sort of a b!tch who wants to be in control of everything and everyone.

I have loved reading all the books in the Beholder series up to now but I think that book 3 Cherished is so far my favorite. I loved the battle, the fight for the new king and all the spells that were used during the battle. Don’t get me wrong I really loved reading both Cursed book 1 and Concealed book 2. The reason that Cursed was not my favorite was because of Tristan’s betrayal and because of Rowan’s betrayal in Concealed. I still can’t believe that Rowan betrayed Elea like that with his engagement to her best friend Amelia. I am still mad at him a little bit about that but after reading book 3 Cherished he has made up for it somewhat. I can’t wait for the next book Crowned to see what journey Elea and Rowan take us on next. Who is being Crowned and for what?

If you have not read Cherished then I would like to be the first one to suggest that you do as it is out of this would amazing but I would suggest that you read Cursed and then Concealed before reading Cherished.

much better than book one!
Cherished by Two - Morticia Knight
ndependent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian. * A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. * Book two in the Soul Match series, and you really MUST read book one, Slave For Two, before you embark on this one. And this is a far better read, for me, than book one! Lasar, Nary and Chris continue to grow in their three way soul match. Lasar learns how to be Ahna (Dom) to both Nary and Chris; Nary learns how to be both Nasha (sub) to Lasar AND Ahna to Chris and Chris just learns how to be a third, a sub, a mate and all those words that come to mind. And while they are doing that, they begin to unravel just what has taken over the Nall, (their supreme commander) and is responsible for his actions. Morgan, Chris' cousin, is still in the protective custody of Lasar, for their friend, but there is something going on with a new found ally and Morgan, I think I can see what's coming for them both, but we shall see! What made this one for me, was the way each of the three soul bound mates dealt with each and every thing that came along. The way Lasar was teaching Nary, and indeed, a little vice versa. The way Chris was trying, so darn hard, to be the mate Lasar and Nary deserved, and the way Nary kinda slotted in between the two of them, beautifully! The scenes between the three of them were very well written, and I LOVED the patience that both Lasar and Nary showed Chris. Loved that they were going at HIS pace, not theirs. Oh and the Soul Healer, SHa Sha Ar, pops up again, with equally baffling sayings to Chris, who seems to be communicating more and more with The Soul Healer, through dreams and trances. There is, I sincerely hope, much more to come from these three, and Morgan and maybe even Chris' mum, who Lasar found safe with his sisters. I dunno where this is going, but I so wanna see how it gets there!! Read in one fell swoop, so... 5 full stars **same worded review will appear elsewhere**
