The Color of a Promise (The Color of Heaven Series Book 11)
The Color of a Promise (The Color of Hea... The Color of a Promise (The Color of Heaven Series Book 11) - Julianne MacLean I am a little disappointed in myself. How could I not have known Ms. Maclean wrote contemporary romance. Having read a number of her short stories and full length historical romances, I have been aware of her as an author for quite a while. Her historicals are full of the fantasy fairytale settings that are loved by most women and the warrior hero ready to lend a hand to the damsel in distress but after reading The Color of a Promise, her gift for writing inspirational and dramatic stories is an extraordinary find. The Color of A Promise mixes drama, cinema and motivational writing into a fascinating read that touches the heart, gives food for thought and sparks hope. Jack and Meg found a place of protection during a time of tragedy and that is all a person can hope for in life. I received an ARC of this wonderful novel in exchange for an honest review. I am going to have to look into the rest of this series.

The Color of Hope (The Color of Heaven Series, Book 3)
The Color of Hope (The Color of Heaven Series, Book 3) - Julianne MacLean As Good As "The Color of Heaven"

I was skeptical about reading the third book in this series, because although I really enjoyed The Color of Heaven, I was disappointed with the Color of Destiny, book 2 in the series. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that this one was as good, if not a little better than the first so I'm glad I risked it. These books are all loosely related, although you could read them in any order or as stand alone's and they would make sense, they don't need to be read consecutively, although I guess it helps a little to understand the full background of all of the characters. These are quick, easy reads, I've read each of them in under two days, so it's a nice light, fluffy, feel good book. I also like that part of the book (all of the books) takes place in Bar Harbor, Maine, which is where I grew up, on Mt. Desert Island, where I still vacation almost every summer, and live just a couple hours south of, in Portland, Maine. So that has a close-to-home feel that I enjoy. I also have a close personal connection with adoption, and all of the books, this on in particular, revolve around the affects that the choice of of adoption has on the lives of both the children and parents (adoptive and birth), and I always enjoy reading about that subject. There's an undertone of religion, or spirituality in this book as well as the first two, and I thought it was just the right amount, not enough to make it a religious book, but a nice balance, just enough to suggest that there is a higher power, or God, out there, but that wasn't by any means the focus of the book. I rated this book 4 star because it was easy to follow, with well formed, likable characters, well timed, suspenseful, fast read that I pretty much read non-stop from start to finish, with only a few exceptions. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a quick respite from their usual genre, or a break from a long series, or just a feel good beach reach read or any such occasion.

The Color of Destiny (The Color of Heaven Series #2)
The Color of Destiny (The Color of Heaven Series #2) - Julianne MacLean Nothing spectacular

Nothing spectacular

I was expecting a bit more after reading 'The Color of Heaven' but I guess that was a tough act to follow and this one couldn't quite measure up. Although it was an okay read, it didn't suck, just nothing spectacular.

The Color of Heaven
The Color of Heaven - Julianne MacLean,E.V. Mitchell Amazing book!

This book was surprisingly unexpected but full of depth and thought-provoking insight about this life and how we live it and what is yet to come and the gray area between. I couldn't stop reading this book and I hope the rest of the series is just as intriguing.
