Hm, not sure about that one.
Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic - Meghan Ciana Doidge

The female lead is a bit of TSTL. And also a Mary Sue. Everyone wants her, bla bla...

The world-building was not so bad, but the strange (and for PNR or UF strangely poly) lust/crush/infatuation stuff going on didn't help.

POP-UP TRUCK AND PERIL by Harper Lin
Pop-Up Truck and Peril (The Pink Cupcake... Pop-Up Truck and Peril (The Pink Cupcake Mysteries Book 5) - Harper Lin

A secretary is murdered at Master Ketchup where Christine, Amelia's best friend works.  Christine is afraid that the murderer meant to kill her as Danielle, the secretary, was temporarily assigned to Christine's marketing department. She asks Amelia to move her cupcake truck to outside Master Ketchup so she could investigate the murder.  Dan, of course, has asked Amelia to stay out of the murder investigation.

I enjoyed this story.  John's wedding plans are heating up and people are getting upset over those plans.  Amelia supports her children no matter what.  Dan is fitting very well in Amelia's and the kids' lives.  I liked that the murder was fit into the daily lives of the characters involved but that it was only a part of their lives.  We get more of who they are and their relationships with each other.  I figured out who the murderer was and why (unusual for me.}

I look forward to more in this series.

Review: Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic by Megan Ciana Doidge
Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic - Meghan Ciana Doidge

Feeling really meh about this paranormal cozy. I figured out the killer early in the story, and wasn't all that interested in the dynamics of the relationships between the different characters. I felt that the ending didn't resolve the murder mystery and left too many loose ends. Not going to read anymore in the series.

Love and Cupcakes
Love and Cupcakes - Kris T. Bethke Love and Cupcakes - Kris T. Bethke Had some minor grammatical errors, it could have used a beta read or editor.

A short friends to lovers story. Evan has been in love with his best friend Mac? For a years but the feeling didn’t seem mutual and Evan contents himself with just knowing Mac is in his life. Then Mac calls late one night in a bit of a panic because the bakery supplying his grandfather’s birthday cupcakes won’t be able to. Mac enlists Evan’s help, and Evan being the friend he is agrees under some conditions. Evan never expects Mac to kiss him in-between baking.

No real surprises in the story the blurb pretty much summarizes the whole story but it was a fun story to read and see unfold. Mac and Evan’s interaction was nice. I didn’t expect Mac to be so crass but I guess being a firefighter wording isn’t an issue.

Fun read!
Beefcake & Cupcakes (BeefCake, Inc.) - Judi Fennell

Beefcake & Cupcakes is my first book by Judi Fennell.  This book is both entertaining and fun.  Lara and Gage's story is full of drama, humor and sizzle.  The characters Ms Fennell has created are lovable and make this story awesome.  This book is well-written and a nice smooth read.  I enjoyed Beefcake & Cupcakes and look forward to reading more from Judi Fennell soon.  Beefcake & Cupcakes is book 1 in the Beefcake, Inc Series but can be read as a standalone.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I bought a copy of this book at a book signing.
