Note: This review is of the adaptation I listened to, and not the original text.

This was wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. This was everything a vampire story should be: Gothic, suspenseful, creepy, and sensual.

This version is an adaptation by Robin Brooks of Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu's original novella, and as such there are some changes made to the original work. From what I can see doing a cursory comparison, it appears that while this adaptation retains the original storyline, the cast of characters has been condensed, and the missing character's parts given to other characters, especially at the end. I haven't yet fully read the original, so this may not be exactly right.

Also, instead of a single narrator, we're treated to an entire talented cast including, most notably, Rose Leslie as Laura, Phoebe Fox as Carmilla, and David Tennant as Doctor Hesselius.

The performances were fantastic, especially Rose Leslie. In addition to the delightful cast, I also enjoyed the use of music and sound effects. It reminded me of listening to an old time radio show.

I'd recommend this highly to fans of the original as well as to those who maybe would like to read the original, but maybe aren't fond of the 19th century era prose.

Another amazing David Tennant narrated dragon adventure with Hiccup, Toothless, Fishlegs, Camicazi.

I love this series and the audiobooks are insanely fun to listen to. David Tennant is a perfect narrator and I never want this series to end. However, I went into this series knowing that there will be an end, and it will explain why there are no longer dragons in the world.

Book 8 in the series continues the story. Camicazi has gone missing and the Hooligan tribe has turned out to look for her. But they landed on the wrong beach, a love letter was sent to the wrong girl (well the right one, but sending it was a bad idea), Hiccup is volunteered for a deadly task (as usual), and everything goes wrong (as always)

But in the meantime, we find out about Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Second (ancestor of our main character who is the third in the line) and why he wrote a book about dragons. We also get the setup for why the dragons have left our world (or whatever has happened to them). Or at least an idea of what could have happened.

I really look forward to the rest of this series. I've read it's only going to be 12 books so I'm getting near the end :(      

I love this series. It's insanely fun and hilarious.

In this one, we have the Viking swimming contest, in which the last who comes back wins. Fishlegs can't swim and Hiccup isn't much better. However they get kidnapped by Norbert the Nutjob (probably my favorite reoccurring villain) and put on a ship to America (which doesn't exist).

I am not going to be happy when I run out of these.
