Physical Forces by D.D. Ayres
Physical Forces (A K-9 Rescue Novel) - D. D. Ayres

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.

I had a lot of fun with this book! I have had a review copy of this book for a long time but somehow I always seemed to skip over it when it was time to pick up a new book. I really have no idea why it fell off my radar. I love romantic suspense even though I don't read a ton of it anymore. I also love books that have dogs worked into the story and animals play a huge part in this tale. I am so glad that I finally decided to give this book a try.

I really liked Macayla. I can't remember ever reading a book that featured a pet detective before but I loved that aspect of the story. Mac finds lost pets and seems to have a real knack for it. She is really great with animals and works hard to rescue them when they are lost and scared. She's made a few enemies by standing up for local animals but it is worth it in her eyes.

Mac meets Oliver while she is trying to coax a scared dog out from behind a dumpster. Oliver handles a K-9 Search and Rescue dog and is one of the owners of a company specializing in the task. He can't help but go to help the lady he sees hanging out by the dumpsters. Before a lot of time elapses, he jumps in to save the day and is pulled into the events happening in Mac's life.

I really liked Mac and Oliver together. I thought that they had great chemistry and were both very competent individuals. I liked that they were both able to help each other and they were both very willing to do so. Their relationship moved quickly but I thought that it felt realistic.

I would recommend this book to others. I thought that it was a really well done romantic suspense with great characters that both had intriguing backstories and a healthy enough dose of doggie antics to keep the animal lover in me happy. This book is the sixth book in the K-9 Rescue series but I had no issues reading it as a stand-alone although now I really want to go back and read some of the earlier books from this series.

I received a digital review copy of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley.

Initial Thoughts
I liked this book. I was in the mood for a lighter romantic suspense and this book filled that need perfectly. Mac's back story was interesting and I liked that she worked as a pet detective finding lost pets. What a great job! Oliver was great and I loved the way he couldn't help but get involved in helping Mac out. I liked their chemistry and thought that they made a great team. This is the sixth book in the K-9 rescue series but I read it as a stand-alone and it worked just fine.

Sexy & Comedic
Physical Forces (A K-9 Rescue Novel) - D. D. Ayres

This is my first book by Ayres. It also happens to be book six in A K-9 Rescue Series. This s the story of Macayla “Mac” who’s a pet detective and Oliver a K-9 Search and Rescue operative. The teasing banter, sexy flirting and comedy between the two were what made the book so good. After finishing Physical Forces, I had to go back and pick up the other books just to see what I missed. I am happy to say I have found a new one click author. I cannot wait to read my next one.

DESIRE IS A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH

When it comes to training K-9 patrol dogs, Yardley Summers always trusts her instincts. But when it comes to dating men, she keeps her heart on a very short leash. Mostly, she’s too busy with her four-legged trainees at Harmonie Kennels to commit to a relationship. Only two men have managed to distract her: a handsome Doctors Without Borders physician who’s suddenly gone missing—and the red-hot dog trainer from her past who’s suddenly back in her life…

Now a K-9 rescue team leader, Kye McGarren has never forgotten the days he trained at Yardley’s camp—or the nights he spent in her arms. When he hears that Yardley is on a mission to find the missing doctor, Kye is determined to keep her out of danger. With his K-9 partner by his side, he joins Yardley on a death-defying mission—one that reignites their mutual passion. Will Kye be able to rescue his romantic rival…without losing the woman he loves?

Ayres has definitely climbed on my “must read” list with this phenomenal series. I’m relishing each and every novel in the K-9 Rescue series which gives us a touch of danger, loyal canine companions, fierce heroines, and tantalizing heroes.

Rival Forces is book four in the series. It does read well enough as a standalone, but Yardley is featured in the other novels and we get to see a little of who she is and what might be going on, before we dive into her book, so this one I’d recommend reading after you started from the beginning.

I enjoyed Yardley and Kye together. They have a past history, one that needs to be resolved, but first he’s got to figure out whats going on with her and avoid the danger that has come calling.

The chemistry and attraction just flowed off them and the pages. They both love dogs and are involved with working and handling them. Both are strong-willed, stubborn, kickass and take no prisoners. It makes for an interesting pair up. Boy oh boy do the sparks fly. I will say we get a very enchanting dance that happens (he’s from Hawaii), oh my, that part had me glued to the page.

The suspense was nicely done and brought all kinds of unknown danger. It keeps you turning those pages to find out what will happen next and it gave us a chance to see both dogs do their thing. I really enjoyed how each dog was trained for something different and how well they worked together, just like their owners.

This series is outstanding. I’m in love! I had a phenomenal time reading Rival Forces and the second chance romance was a delight.

A few notes before we get started:

This book can be read as a stand-a-lone.

I love that the cover is true to the book. The covers so far for the K-9 Rescue series have fit the books perfectly. The dogs that are featured on the covers, are the pets in the story.

The K-9 Rescue series has fast become a favorite of mine. The author highlights the different ways that service dogs play a integral part in service to our country. You can tell that the author has done her research on the different ways to train service dogs for all types of jobs. This in-depth and accurate portray just adds to my enjoyment.

Primal Force is book three in the K-9 Rescue series by D.D. Ayres.

This is my favorite so far in the series. I love the romance, drama, suspense, & the K-9. It was brilliant to give the reader the K-9, Samantha’s, perspective in this novel along with Jori and Law’s. Getting the K-9’s POV was marvelous; because it added a whole new dimension to the story. Law and Jori where a wonderful couple to fall in love with. I liked them both from the start and couldn’t help, but get caught up in their hot steamy romance as well as everything else that was going on. The danger and excitement just added to the story and relationship building between our couple.

Primal Force had me laughing and crying. I was captivated from the first page and had a delightful time reading. This series is engaging and fascinating. I recommend picking up the K-9 Rescue series.

Agent Scott Lucca may be a pro when it comes to undercover assignments, but this job is daunting even for him. Posing as a happy couple on the dog competition circuit means he and Cole need to get a lot closer than they've been in years. This novel can be read as a stand-a-lone.

I have come to really love the K-9’s in this series. You can tell that the author knows her dog breeds and has done her research on training, showing, and all things related to K-9’s. This in-depth and accurate portray just adds to my enjoyment.

Force of Attraction is book two in the K-9 Rescue series by D.D. Ayres.

Cole and Scott have a serious past. They walked away from each other instead of working things out. Now they are partnered up together to work an undercover assignment, but Scott’s past and undercover work is coming back. The past is far from buried; between these two.

A second chance romance with a little mystery and intrigue throughout the story. We are whisking into a world of drug trafficking, the dog agility circuit, bikers, and undercover police work. Add in our 4 main characters, Hugo and Izzy, Cole and Scott’s police dogs and you have a delightful read.

I will say Hugo stole the show for me. I just love Hugo and Izzy, the K-9’s.

I did had some issues with a few things in Force of Attraction, but I still ended up enjoying the novel. For one I didn’t care for the first sex scene. She was getting into character and being the character when she had sex with Scott and he went along with it. These two needed to get everything out in the open, before they got intimate with each other. I felt they didn’t need to have that much intimacies to pull things off and they weren’t ready to go their, at least in my eyes. They had to much to discuss and resolve from the past first. I also wasn’t fully on board with the undercover angel in this novel. They can be a couple, but not have to get as intimate as they did. It all comes down to them not getting it all out there; before they stared their undercover work.

Force of Attraction was entertaining and enjoyable. All in all, I enjoyed this book. This series is engaging and fascinating. I recommend picking up the K-9 Rescue series.
