Snow Angels by Matt De La Pena
My True Love Gave To Me: Twelve Holiday Stories - Stephanie Perkins

3 Stars

am totally a sucker for gotten-stuck-in-the-snow-somewhere stories...

It the ultimate cute & fluffy to me, since I am a winter romance kinda gal.

And this is exactly what Snow Angels is about. But if you thing super cutsie, well think again. This is first of all written by from the POV of a guy. So cutsie just left the building. Second it's more the trying to find myself kinda story.

I loved how De La Pena structured this short story. Super clever.  Slowly building up the characters. Their true stories slowly coming to light.

After finishing though, I thought I didn't really like the two characters. But pondering over it for a bit I realised that wasn't right. I like Shy alot, and while Haley was a bit out there at times, I liked her as well. No my issue was the actually romance. I didn't get the chemistry. I didn't. There was friendship and all that, but then suddenly it changed and even then, I didn't feel it.

Still I enjoyed the story. It's fun and thought provoking.

The Lady and the Fox by Kelly Link
My True Love Gave To Me: Twelve Holiday Stories - Stephanie Perkins

The story reminded me of the Snow Queen. It's kinda a modern day fairytale. And some of it is rather beautiful. But I don't think I enjoyed the writing style very much. Though I can't really explain why. I liked the pacing of it, the way Link used prose to give it a rhythm to speed or slow down the story. So while I think this was well crafted, for some reason I just didn't connect with Miranda or any other character. A well told story but sadly not quite for me.

Super cute sigh worthy story set over several New Years parties. The pace is brilliant. The character building actually phenomenal, especially considering the length. The plot cute & fluffy overload. I mean that in the best possible way! *sigh*
Great start to the book!

New morning routine
My True Love Gave To Me: Twelve Holiday Stories - Stephanie Perkins

Around week back I decided that I would change my morning routine...

I get up around an hour earlier.

Wait that's not right.

I wake up an hour earlier, relax for a bit, then read for 30min before getting up. Partly I started this cause for some reason I kept on waking up earlier, so I thought what the heck.. but the more pressing reason, I ended up reading during the extra morning time.  Since I got a super hectic schedule and so little reading time, I decided sleep ain't all that.

SO why am I telling you this?

Well, because part of that new morning routing, as of today anyway, is reading My True Love. One short cute & fluffy fix a day...
