I got this as an ARC forever ago but I didn't remember downloading it. I remember it saying it was already archived, so I thought I missed it. But then the other day I saw it was on my Kindle. Not sure how that happened.
Anyway, if I ignore the glaring formating problems, then thus book was really good. Set in the 80s Russia, it was unique and a nice change of pace. The writing was decent, the characters were definitely 80s, and I loved getting a glimpse into the Soviet Union. I just pray whoever formatted this for the Kindle wad fired. The chapter breaks were garbled and letters got mixed up. I got the rhythm after a couple of chapters, but I certainly wouldn't have paid for this quality.
So, story: GREAT. layout: TERRIBLE

Even if you've never read one of Emma Raveling's books (which I highly recommend!) this is a great way to get the very best opportunities to do so! She wrote the YA fantasy The Ondine Quartet (one of my all time favorite series!) and the a mystery/suspense Breaking Measures (another beautifully written gem).
