The fact that there is a Dull Men's Club is pretty fucking great; that they put out a calendar of Dull Men is better; that Mr October runs an Apostrophe Appreciation Society is the very, very best. I read this aloud to my husband, who then chided, "You know, the apostrophe is typographically interesting, in all seriousness." Maybe I"m living with next year's centerfold? Hubba hubba.
As it’s the beginning of the academic year, I’ve been looking at free online courses and educational resources for readers, writers, gamers and web surfers (mostly on online security).
I don't know why I'm linking to this, because it's the usual laundry list of its/it's less/fewer and they're/their/there. Those things can be annoying, but they're also boring. The bad grammar prize people certainly can do better. I recently read a statement by an elected official here in Minneapolis, and the sheer amount of bad grammar, misplaced punctuation, and tortured phrasing packed into a small paragraph was awesome.
I did like the cafe chain named Apostrophe screwing up an apostrophe though, because irony.
