Usually I would lie in the backseat of our car and read my faded textbooks...I would read by means of the diffuse light of streetlamps, or the fluid and Dopplering light of passing automobiles. Sometimes I had to pause in the middle of paragraphs and sentences in order to await this sentient light. In those days I thought light was layered and textured like leaves in a tree. It moved and ruffled through the car. It felt gentle and imminent like snow.
