Houseboat Mystery
Houseboat Mystery - Gertrude Chandler Warner

This one is wild, friends. The mystery makes no sense. And the food descriptions are lackluster. A little disappointing after Caboose Mystery which is also wild in a different way (circus clowns, friend betrayal, lost children, talking horses, glass making, diamond necklaces, Coke and orange juice drinks... seriously).

Houseboat on the Nile (Spy vs. Spook)
Houseboat on the Nile (Spy vs. Spook) - Tinnean The rivalry between these two was a bit silly. All because of their employers. Neither wanted to own up to their attraction. Boys!

August Book a Day #6: Best Bedtime Story
Maida's Little Island (Maida Books Series, Number 4) - Inez Haynes Irwin
Maida's Little Shop - Inez Haynes Gillmore
Maida's Little House - Inez Haynes Irwin
Maida's Little School. - Inez Haynes. Irwin
Maida's Little Camp (Maida Series, No. 5) - Inez Haynes Irwin
Maidas Little Village - Inez Haynes Irwin
Maida's Little Houseboat - Inez Haynes Irwin

The Maida books, by Inez Haynes Irwin.  My very favorite bedtime books growing up. A group of children from a working class neighborhood in Boston make a new friend - Maida, a girl with a severe limp.  Who turns out to be the daughter of a millionaire.  Great fun.  I had my mother's copies; they were out-of-print when I was a child in the 1970s.  (Still are, I think.)

(What was the very best, though, was my parents or grandparents telling me a bedtime story.  I got tales of the rural South from the 1880s through the 1950s, of New York City in the 1920s, growing up in the 1940s, and so forth.  Wonderful, wonderful stories.)

Houseboat on the Nile
Houseboat on the Nile - Tinnean Re-read on July/2014

This story had previously been a DNF for me, but I have taken the time to limit my DNF shelf and I decided to finish this story to see if I liked it better. Sadly, I didn't. The alternating redundancy of the same events by switching POV's became exceedingly annoying and only served as a distraction from what should have been the plot. In fact, the plot seemed to move so slowly that it got to the point where I didn't care.

But at least now it's not a DNF. It's just an unsatisfying 2 star rating story.

Houseboat on the Nile
Houseboat on the Nile - Tinnean This book deserves five freaking' stars!!! and then some!!!

The plot was thrilling, I liked that the MCs worked for different and rival organizations. The rivalry made for some very funny moments :D

I liked that Mark Vincent was all prickly, misunderstood and soo paranoid description, but also so sweet when it came to his sweetheart working boys. ( I would love to read a little novella about Sweetcheeks and Matheson:P )

Quinn Mann was also a delight: a little less intense than Vincent, but warmer and sophisticated and in my opinion a MASTER SEDUCER
come to me little fly

Most of the scorching hot scenes are instigated by our little firecracker Mann :D

description

One more thing: the novel is written in alternative POVs so we hear both Vincent and Mann thoughts, but is important to mention that the same events are related from both their points of view. Some of you may find that annoying or give you the sense that things are dragged out, but that wasn't my feeling at all.. I actually found that it added to the story and made me really connect with both of the MCs. I really loved the way this novel was constructed and can't wait to read the next one witch is waiting impatiently for me on my Kindle, so...
That's it!!
Read it guys, it will be worth it!!
Kisses!!

p.s. English is not my native language so please forgive any spelling and.or grammar mistakes.
