Hunt the Dragon Within (The Journals of Ravier #2) by J.R. Vaineo
Hunt the Dragon Within (The Journals of Ravier #2) - J.R. Vaineo

The epicness continues with Tyler and Gemma as they try to stay alive!

@JRVaineo, @ReedsyDiscovery, #Epic#Fantasy#YoungAdult, 4 out of 5 (very good)

HUNT THE DRAGON WITHIN is the second book in The Journals of Ravier series and we continue where book one left off. Soren is causing chaos, Talok is stuck with a bracelet he doesn't want, and Tyler is just trying to make sense of it all AND cope with the powers he appears to have now.

Now, if you've read my review for book one, you will know I found the constant use of numbers confusing. (Numbers are a foreign language, after all!) I'm pleased to say this isn't such an issue here as the author concentrates more on things that are happening. I do love the 'Thirteen, Done' part of it though!

There is a love-triangle forming which I hope is sorted out soon! I know they are popular with a lot of people but I just find them irritating.

Water Dragon (The Bride Hunt Book 2)
Water Dragon (The Bride Hunt Book 2) - Charlene Hartnady What a charming side to Torrent. One wouldn't be able to tell his true nature from the first book. In fact I wanted to whack him upside the head. But he meets his match in Candy. She is definitely the girl who deserves a second chance and Torrent is well on his way to giving it to her before he lets his arrogant self get the better of him. But in the end he comes to his senses and does the right thing thanks to Julie and Coal.

Royal Dragon (The Bride Hunt Book 1)
Royal Dragon (The Bride Hunt Book 1) - Charlene Hartnady So Coal gets his, after being such an ass to his sister Ruby in "A Mate for Kai". And Julie can sock it to him just as good. She has issues with trust and communication, preferring to think the worst instead of just clarifying things first but I guess that stems from her background. Coal though I wish would have been more forthcoming but I was holding a tiny grudge against him so I guess making him work for it was a tiny slice of sweet revenge from me. Nothing better than a piece of humble pie for him.

Hunt the Dragon
SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Dragon - Don Mann,Ralph Pezzullo

I think this is probably going to be the last book in this series that I am going to read. It wasn't bad, it's just that I no longer like the main character, Crocker. I've almost grown to hate him because of all his whining about his family and how much he blames the breakdown in his marriage on his soon to be ex-wife, Holly. When you don't like the main character it makes it hard to read the book.

That being said I did end up enjoying this overall. It had some good action scenes, which is something I had previously enjoyed about this series. I also love how relevant this to current events. One thing I didn't like (besides Crocker) was that the ending was very drawn out and it became boring at times.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the galley.

Reading progress update: I've read 11%.
SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Dragon - Don Mann,Ralph Pezzullo

Ugh, the more that I read this the more I remember how much I had previously grown to hate Crocker. He has spent most of this book so far whining about his life, especially the fact that he and his wife are separated. He seems to want to always blame it on her when he was the one to screw everything up. His actions show that he doesn't care about hiss family like he should.
