Reading Progress
The Gray and Guilty Sea - Jack Nolte

Just started reading this book without looking through the synopsis. I thought it was about the sea. Might be pirate. After reading the first chapter, I realized it was an investigation story. It does have a compelling story for the first few chapters. Then the progress slowed down a little. All I know is that the character Garrison Gage is one kind of sarcastic bastard. I like that character. Right now I am reading through chapter 10. Not really much had happened. He is still investigating about a murder that happened in his area. I do think he might stumble upon his dark past during the investigation. But still, I haven't finish it yet. So I'm gonna keep update the story. No worries. No spoilers ahead. Just some interesting incidents that I might spill accidentally.

Willing Suspension of Disbelief: “The First Lensman” by E. E. Doc Smith
First Lensman (The Lensman Series) - Jack Gaughan,E.E. "Doc" Smith

"Nobody does anything for nothing. Altruism is beautiful in theory, but it has never been known to work in practice."

In “The First Lensman” by E. E. Doc Smith

In many or most written SF, certainly in SF films, the canny audience member engages in a willing suspension of disbelief. The question for me often comes down to just a couple considerations--is it a bridge too far, just too many stupidities of too gross a scale for me to be able to buy-in? And am I enjoying myself on other levels--is it just so fun or cool or exciting, or are the characters and story just so damned compelling, that I can't help but have a good time? So, if I'm not offended by the stupidity, and the work in question as a narrative, then I'm happily able to suspend my disbelief and enjoy it.

Ok. it's only SF but..

Finale
Suicide Squad #40 - Rob Williams,Jack Herbert

Both Hack and The Wall's storylines wrap up as Amanda Waller has to decide between her family and the Squad.

Once again, just loved this whole storyline, which had multiple subplots to keep it going.
