Dumb Bunny
Junie B., First Grader: Dumb Bunny - Barbara Park,Denise Brunkus

Junie B. Jones is an average first grader. However, one of her classmates, Lucille is having Easter egg hunter at her house and everyone in class is invited.  The Easter egg hunt is a Lucille's mansion and the winner that finds the golden egg wins a play date to swim in Lucille's heated indoor swimming pool! Only, there's a small problem. Well a big pink fluffy problem. Lucille insists on Junie being the Easter rabbit complete with floppy ears and a cotton tail. Junie hates costumes and keeps tripping over her own too big rabbit feet. She just feels like a big old dumb bunny and has no hopes of winning the prize. Will Junie give up or does she have something up her basket?

This book has a super fun activity to go with it. I would have my class hunt for eggs, however, they are in for more than just candy with this fun activity. They would be on a scavenger egg hunt and only the reading clues inside the eggs will help them get to the grand prize at the end.

Reading Level: 1st grade through 4th grade

Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentine
Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentime - Barbara Park,Denise Brunkus

Growing up, I read Junie B. all the time! This book would be great to read around Valentines Day. In the book, Junie B.'s class is exchanging Valentine cards and she receives one that was from a secret admirer. Something I could do with this book is to have the students write a poem, in the shape on a heart, for someone in their family. Possibly their mom. This particular Junie B book is not my favorite even though it is part of favorite childhood series. I believe if this book was a read loud, grades 1-3 would enjoy the book along with writing a poem. The level of this book is a 2.1.

Junie B. Jones and Her Big Fat Mouth -- Junie B. Jones Has a Peep in Her Pocket -- Junie B. Jones Smells Something Fishy, 3 Vols. Set (Assorted Volumes) - Barbara Park,Denise Brunkus

This book is a great read during snack or any free time during the day. Junie B. is a character who can be very relate able to and children can learn much from her actions/consequences. This book is a guided reading level M and is great to read aloud to 1-3 third grade. It is also a great book for starting chapter books. My CT read this book during the week leading up to a field trip to the petting zoo/farm.

JUNIE B. JONES 25-BOOK SET (Junie B. Jones . . . and the Stupid Smelly Bus, and a Little Monkey Business, and Her Big Fat Mouth, and Some Sneaky Peeky Spying , and the Yucky Blucky Fruitcake, and That Meanie Jim's Birthday, Loves Handsome Warren, Has a Mo - Barbara Park

I cannot write enough about this series and Barbara Park. Growing up, these were my absolute, all time favorite books. I had every single one of her books. They are funny, interesting, and easy to read at any age. Junie B Jones was a huge part of my childhood. These books are perfect for children who want to begin reading chapter books. Each chapter is only a few pages long. This series would be great for either an independent study, a book report, a book club, or really anything at all. Barbara Park did an outstanding job with this series. I highly recommend having many of these books in your classroom!!
