Junie B. Jones Series
Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentime - Barbara Park,Denise Brunkus

This is just one book in a huge series of Junie B. Jones books. Its a chapter book and would be better read during independent reading time. Junie B Jones touches on important topics such as manners, "girl power", and growing up (puberty) in a humorous way. The series is full of holiday inspired books and would be great to add to any teacher library.

How I would use this book in my classroom:

I would like to keep a few of these books in my classroom for my students to read during free reading time. This one in particular I would show to my kids during the month of February in hopes they would get hooked on the series. Any type of reading is good reading!

Junie B. Jones and a little Monkey Buisness Review
Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business - Barbara Park,Denise Brunkus

This Junie B. Jones book is about Junie B. Jones trying to survive having a new baby brother. After her grandmother see him and says, "he's the cutest little monkey", Junie B. Jones takes it seriously and thinks her baby brother is an actual monkey. I would use this book in my classroom as a book to read for fun but also for students to see what have a new sibling is like. (Book Reading Level: Lexile 540L)

Junie B. Jones

Guided Reading: Level M

Junie B. Jones books are great for girl power, humor, and a great time to talk about respect and manners. I love all of these books because there are many real world connects that kids can make with Junie B. I would use these book throughout the year as just a shared reading time fr me to read to all my students at the end of the day.

Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentine by Barbara Park
Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentime - Barbara Park,Denise Brunkus

The Junie B. Jones series never fails to earn a giggle from students when they read or hear about her shenanigans navigating through Kindergarten. This book in particular is one of my favorites, because I love any holiday-themed work! Rated as an “M” on Scholastic’s guided reading scale, The Mushy Gushy Valentine is best for 1st and 2nd grade and could inspire multiple Valentine’s Day themed activities.

Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus
Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus - Barbara Park,Denise Brunkus

Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus by Barbara Park is a very engaging book for young readers where students can relate to the main character Junie B. Jones. Junie B. has her first day of Kindergarten and has to ride the school bus to school, which Junie B. does not enjoy.  At the end of the day, instead of going home on the bus, Junie B. hides in the school causing lots of chaos.  Junie B. eventually agrees to ride the school bus if she gets to be with a friend.  Julie B. Jones is very clever, but still has many lessons to learn.  This book would go well with teaching the importance of rules, especially those enforced at school.  Using Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus, teachers could have students help make classroom rules and specifically point out dismissal rules at the end of the day.  The Fountas and Pinnell text level for Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus is Level M (Grades 3 and 4).
