It's got almost all my favorite things in it
Captain Raptor and the Moon Mystery - Kevin O'Malley,Patrick O'Brien

Velociraptor?   Check.  Space adventures?   Check.   Comic books?   It is one, although not traditionally paced and more painterly illustrations than is usual in American comic books.  Also, mechanical things, although nothing with AI.   (If they did have one with AI, my brain might explode from happiness.)

Got this from the library, and may have to own the two that are out and the third one coming out soon.   Lushly illustrated, the colors gorgeous and striking, and a clever storyline about a problem on one of Jurassica's moons.

Needless to say, I hope that Captain Raptor has many, many more adventures in the future.  I will read them all.

Good Story and Characters
You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone - Kevin O'Brien

Spencer’s Aunt Andrea/Dee was everything he had left in his life. They had moved to Seattle to start a new life. Spencer at eleven and another thirteen year old boy Garrett had killed Spencer’s parents . Spencer had been in a psychiatric hospital and juvenile detention center for five years. Garrett also had the same sentence but the did separate the boys. Spencer’s last name had been legally changed to try to keep the past behind him. Spencer’s Aunt Dee and Spencer had moved in with Luke as strange things were happening in and around their apartment. Spencer got along  good with Luke. Luke had a son Damon who came over for every other weekend. Damon was being bullied at school. He seemed to have only one friend her name was Tanya. Tanya was on the weird side. Then Damon did a murder suicide where he killed his mother then himself. But strange things continued to happen but to other families and Spencer was being setup to atke the blame.

This was a very good story. I constantly read while awake and even lost a little sleep to finish it. The [plot was excellent the writing was good and the characters were really well placed and had alot of depth. I truly enjoyed this. I loved the twists and turns especially the ones around Spencer. It did drag a little bit at times But I definitely recommend this.

I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone
You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone - Kevin O'Brien
ISBN:  9780786038817
Publisher: Kensington
Publication Date: 7/26/2016
Format: Paperback
My Rating: 4 Stars

A special thank you to Kensington and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Kevin O’Brien returns following No One Needs to Know (2015) with YOU'LL MISS ME WHEN I'M GONE another complex multi-layered mystery, with a highly-charged topic of bullying combined with family secrets, and now murder—keeping readers glued to the pages of this gripping thriller, to the final ending.

Andrea Boyle, age thirty-six years old, (she looked much younger)-- moved from Washington, DC with her seventeen-year-old nephew Spencer. Andrea, was a copywriter, and polished manuscripts for authors before they sent their work off to publishers—from textbooks to thrillers. She could work from anywhere, and met Luke at a party of her one and only Seattle client, a true crime writer.

She had relocated with the hope that she and Spencer could start fresh, where no one knew them. Andrea had her nephew's last name legally changed. He was now Spencer Murray. Everyone thought he was her younger brother. She told people his parents died in an automobile accident when he was eleven and she had been taking care of him since.

No one in Seattle knew the real story, including her dear handsome Luke. She needed to tell him the truth. Would he forgive her? She had been dating him for four months. She and Spencer had moved in with Luke three weeks earlier.

Playwright Luke and Andrea are a couple attempting to start a new life together. Luke has a troubled son named Damon and a soon-to-be-ex-wife who is inappropriately obsessive about Luke, their son, and, increasingly, Andrea. When Luke and Andrea decide to move in together, kids in tow, things get unexpectedly complicated. Damon is bullied at school, with Spencer as witness, and in the aftermath of a bullied teen’s suicide, some of the bullies start to die.

Damon, was his son and spent alternate weekends with them. Damon had a bit of OCD and washed his hands about forty times a day. Damon and Spencer both had been harassed by a few bullies. Evelyn was the ex-wife.

When Damon recorded his own murder suicide on a podcast and outed all of the students and teachers that bullied him- strange things began happening. The people he named started turning up dead. Not only did it seem that someone was murdering these people for his benefit but whoever was behind it seemed determined to frame Spencer in the process. Damon was saying he would be more famous than his dad and his plays.

When Spencer’s dark secret is exposed and Luke learns the truth-- things get complicated. What happened when Spencer was eleven? Who is out to get him now? What is his dark secrets?

Andrea has to prove her nephew’s innocence. Does she believe in his innocence? Who is killing all the bullies? Is Spencer innocent or guilty? Everyone close to him is in danger. What if Damon is not really dead?

A fast-paced complex suspense thriller, with loads of characters, and most, not too nice. Have read many books by O’Brien over the years, and he never disappoints! Pack this one for your summer beach reading! Entertaining.

No One Needs To Know by Kevin O'Brien
[(No One Needs to Know)] [By (author) Kevin O'Brien] published on (July, 2015) - Kevin O'Brien
No One Needs To Know by Kevin O'Brien is a five star read, start to finish.  It is the first book I have read by this author but I just added all of his books to my wish list.

He is a masterful story teller.  While the story line kept me guessing moment to moment, the characters are well written & believable. It gave me a sleepless night because I kept telling myself:  Just one more chapter.  The suspense was intriguing.

Now I've got a book hangover.  That's the best recommendation I can give a book.

The main character Laurie was being stalked by the brother of the man she had a brief fling with while her husband served in Afghanistan.  She contacted the police.

"The local police had already had several brushes with Ryder McBride.  'Him & his gang on that farm off Highway 97 have been a major thorn in my side,' Don Eberhard had said earlier, switching off the tape recorder on his desk for a moment.  'McBride's been arrested several times--& each time's he walked.  We couldn't make any of the charges stick.  The scumbag's as slippery as a greased flag pole.'"

There were brief moments of confusion that arose toward the end of the book when the same woman was described but without the clarity that they were aliases.  With continued reading, the meaning became clear & it did not detract from the book as a whole.

If you enjoy suspense-filled thrillers, I highly recommend this book.

I would like to thank the author,  Kensington Books, the publisher & NetGalley for a complimentary kindle copy of this book.  This did not change my opinion for this review.

Excellent Story and Characters
No One Needs To Know - Kevin O'Brien

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**

Laurie Trotter was 26 and trained chef. She had a son named Joey and she had worked at the Superstar diner for 2 years. Laurie's husband died while in the service. Laurie had cheated on her husband with Tad while he had been away. Tad brother was a sociopath and Tad wanted to see his child even though Laurie had proven through DNA that Joey was her husband's.

Laurie was afraid for her life as well as for her son's. She was brave and as honest as she could be. She was caring and a great mom. She was an excellent character as were all of the characters in the book.

It was an excellent plot and overall story. I highly recommend it.
