Chicago, Ryan Ver Berkmoes
Chicago (Lonely Planet) - Ryan Ver Berkmoes,Lonely Planet

This got used pretty hard and served me well when I lived ~40 miles from the lake shore for ~2.5 yrs, back at the turn of the century. I especially liked the walking tours of various neighbourhoods.

Here's a gratuitous Chicago photo:

Discover Paris (Lonely Planet Travel Guide)
Lonely Planet Discover Paris (Travel Guide) - Christopher Pitts,Catherine Le Nevez,Nicola Williams,Lonely Planet

Good, compact, and it includes all the relevant information about the main sights.

It also has a removable fold-out map and metro map, which is very handy.

The restaurant, shopping, and bar listings mean that the book dates very quickly.

I wish more time had been spent on information about sights instead of those listings.

However, each section also includes proposed walks which are easy to follow and average a distance of between 3 and 4 km, which is manageable in Paris at a leisurely pace.

Barcelona Guide Books
Lonely Planet Best of Barcelona 2018 (Travel Guide) - Lonely Planet
Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guide: Barcelona - DK

When I went to Spain I brought two with me from the libraries, the DK Eyewitness Top 10 2017 Barcelona and Lonely Planet's Best of Barcelona that was fresh off the new books shelf.  Both were interesting but I was almost overwhelmed with the places and things to do.  I was also a little stymied by the fact that neither of them fit in my handbag (my fault), but the suggestions weren't very useful for someone with only 2.5 days in the city.  The Sagrada Familia may be a "must see" but the queues are insane. The Hospital de la Santa Creu i de Sant Pau is a well worth the trip, under touristed space where we had space to wander and a great time (I also spent too much in the gift shop).

To be honest they were good but quick googling helped us almost more.

Lonely Planet Zion & Bryce Canyon National Parks (Travel Guide) - Lonely Planet,Greg Benchwick,Carolyn McCarthy,Christopher Pitts

Finally having a bit of down time after some exhausting days hiking. Haven't seen any TV and not even had time to do any reading, but the amazing scenery and wildlife I've seen, kind of makes up for it.

Zion National Park

Bryce Canyon

Tomorrow we're heading for Capitol Reef, and after that it's Arches and Canyonland before we head to Salt Lake City and then home.
