Going to be honest, I was very generous with this rating. This is a real fluff of a book, with the mystery barely getting any page time. This was a book about Jill's staffing issues at Coffee, Books and More, her first semester back in college, and her relationship with Gregg. The B plot line involving a missing boy and Esmeralda's attempts to find him were more interesting than what was going on in the rest of the book. It was a fast read and I was happy to be back in South Cove with the gang, but I needed less fluff and more mystery. 

Honestly, only read this installment of the series if you are a completionist like me.

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. I received this book for free and voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 4.5* rating. There was a lot going on in this cozy mystery. There were several characters I didn't care for and a lot to like. This gal likes to cook and make nice meals. And she liked to share her knowledge of food. They even shared some recipes at the end of the book. They look mighty good. Looks like greed got the best of a couple residents though and the next thing we know is there is a murder. Lot of interesting twists in this along with a little romance, and nosy neighbors.

I sat down last night to read for an hour or 2 until my favorite show came on and missed my show! (Thank goodness for DVRs!) There were two riveting plots in this one, B&B innkeeper Walter is found dead, murdered in a way that closely mirrored the plot of visiting crime author Nathan Pike's new novel and a child missing after being swept off the beach by a wave. Esmeralda claims he's still alive but in peril and won't survive much longer. I was totally roped in by this story line, Esmeralda was definitely the unsung hero of this book! I loved seeing more of her (she's always been one of my favorite characters!) The storyline about Walter's murder was baffling and I loved the surprise twist at the end. Throw in relationship issues, Economics finals, broken hearts, hot coffee and a slice of cheesecake and you've got a riveting cozy mystery to wrap yourself up in.

I've read this series from the beginning, I've always felt is was more than just a cozy mystery series, it's also a community; one that you stop and visit often to catch up with the characters. I love that the story lines progress naturally and there's always new people to meet and love. I know Deek will be a great addition to the CBM family and what was the deal with Nathan? Multiple personalities? That's a plot unto itself!

Overall, another excellent chapter in the Tourist Trap series and ranks up there as the best of the series. Definitely a must read for any cozy mystery fan!

This was definitely a page turner. It seemed like there was a new suspect on every page. However, the real suspect never even crossed my mind as one.

Davie Richards is trying to find out who murdered a 19 year old Russian girl who is found dead in the L.A. sewer system. She's only been in the States for a few months, but she has definitely learned the fine art of lying. She has told so many lies that when it comes time to find her killer, it just makes it that much longer.

Not only is Davie trying to solve this murder, but some big wheel is trying to reopen an earlier case of an office involved shooting in which she was cleared because he lost a case against her dad several years earlier.

This story is pretty fast paced and most certainly kept me interested. I did not want to put the book down not spend time talking with anyone who chose to interrupt me. Entertaining, enjoyable and very well written.

I gave this second book of the series five stars because it kept me guessing & is a stand alone book.

Here is a quote from Chief Inspector Nico Sirsky as he took his morning therapeutic jog: "Nico smiled at the thought of Paris strutting its stuff, no matter the weather.  Come rain, wind or snow, his city revealed all her finery with the same charm, like an experienced, elegant & spellbinding woman. The Seine River rippling beneath him completed the image."

He had been shot in the leg before & his life was at risk daily.  "He grabbed his holstered gun & felt its weight in his hand. Friend or enemy? Life or death? A gun protected as much as it threatened.  As he attached it to his belt, the cold hard reality struck him again. He hated having to use his gun, but like so many other things in this world--crime, separation, illness, loss--he had to deal with it."

Nico delivered the news of their family member's death: "They remained slumped in their chairs.  Finally they got up to leave. Many times before Nico had seen how pain & sorrow sucked up their prey from the inside, emptying them of their substance, like straws in a glass."

As an officer of the law & Inspector, Nico realized this: "A successful investigation required several ingredients: work, determination--more on the order of relentless resolve--intuition, & insight--a sixth sense, which no technique could ever replace.  And luck, a basic element that couldn't be controlled."

I will now look for more of Frédérique Molay's writing. I recommend this series.
