WTF did i just read? and how depressing! well I'm fairly certain that was depressing or maybe I'm just getting myself confused, the boat thing was a metaphor?.... she traveled on the boat to go to heaven right? but Axl wasnt allowed because of his past sins? but that doesnt explain the Knight and solider - well the knight had sinned but what about the solider that died, why didnt he travel on the boat? and what about poor Axl? what is he doing now? when he die's will he be left on the land? and what about the upcoming war? this book didnt tell me anything!! I'm almost just as bloody confused as i was to begin with. fucking Merlin and Arthur - the Tv show might be good but whenever they are written about its all kinds of messed up, this is the second book I've read where they're involved and find myself frequently cringing.
This book was weird. Why did i read this? I need to collect my thoughts.
This would have been 5 stars, except it went way over my head in the last 3 chapters or so. The first three-fourths of the book were absolutely brilliant and insightful and, with a little extra time taken to ponder, fairly easily taken in and understood, which I can appreciate, being a silly and easily befuddled young'un.
You ever read something and you think, "Man, that's deep. I know this is genius, but I can't quite wrap my head around it", and then your brain starts to hurt, but you feel somehow smarter?? That is Chesterton, 90% of the time. And about 70% of that time, I can "get it", if I re-read a couple times. And he is so worth it.
