I LOVE apocalypse books.  Can't get enough of them.  They don't even have to involve zombies, just the collapse of the world as we know it is enough.  Plague, aliens, nuclear..whatever.  Part of the fun is trying to imagine myself going through it all and how I would cope. 

Anyhoo, I mentioned on Carol's Icebreaker that the hardest part of a Zombie Apocalypse would be pretending I wasn't excited (I wish I was kidding) :D  

We both agreed that we'd be up and att'em without any of the 'OOh, what's happening' nonsense and I mentioned the FIRST thing I would pack would be my kindle fireHD.  Seriously, it's going to be my constant companion when the apocalypse gets here.

It's got room for 1000's of books so it's perfect to stuff with any and all 'helpful' books as well as 'downtime' books because I'll definitely be able to squeeze in a few minutes of recreational reading while I'm barricaded in some fitness gym (others will probably pass the gym without a backward glance but there will be vending machines in there with  power bars and sports drinks). :D

But, what about when the charge runs out and the electricity is gone?  Oh noes!  Pshaw!  Easy, if vehicles still work I'll just find a car and run the kindle off the cigarette lighter charger.

Or,  even better - I'll charge it up with my new fancy, all singing-all dancing solar battery charger with USB connectors.  Sorted!

But what to put on it?  Well, there's a kindle book for everything, it seems, so whether it's car maintenance or how to build a greenhouse or even how to prepare and roast pigeon over an open fire I expect there's a choice of titles available.    I could just fill it with every 'dummies' book that's ever been written and I'd probably still have enough to work with.

Oooh, the possibilities. 

But wait...would the solar panel still work if there was an EMP?  The car idea definitely wouldn't work for that.  Maybe I should scope out a wind-up charger, just in case...
