Forgotten Voices of the Great War - Max Arthur,Imperial War Museum

Do you know how amazingly awesome it is to read first hand accounts of people dying in a chemical agent attack at the first Battle of Ypres (1915) while in real life you are watching the BBC and the PM of the country you are currently residing in is announcing that an actual chemical attack (nerve agent no less) happened before any emergency/medical/military personnel really knew what happened and could cordon off/survey the affected area? So that awesome nerve agent could have spread throughout a town of 40,000 people completely unaware? And now the PM is pointing fingers at another country?

My job in the military was CBRNE Warfare Defense/Emergency Management. This is my wheel house.

And looking at news from the homeland, I discover that someone is delivering bombs inside innocent looking packages and has already killed 2 people.

*Sigh*

I am spending the rest of the night cross stitching - I need to stab something a bunch of times, so I might as well get something pretty out of it.

Book Series I Wish Had More Books | Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday is created by gingerreadslainey, who usually does her videos on YouTube and has a Goodreads page for this where you can join if you’d like by clicking here! Basically we have a topic every week related to books and you choose your top five! This is done every Wednesday!

So, this week’s topic is: Book Series You Wish Had More Books. So, let’s begin! :D

(5) The Hunger Games series

by Suzanne Collins

It’s not the way that this series ended, it’s more how it ended. I feel like the climactic scene happened and BAM! epilogue followed. And, for those of you that have read Mockingjay it’s so obvious what I’m talking about. That epilogue, man . . .

(4) Leviathan trilogy

by Scott Westerfeld

This series actually ended pretty well, it’s just that I’m really greedy! I mean, yes, it ended properly, but I wanted to see more involvement from Alek and Deryn! Maybe we could see into their alternate history timeline more! I would loved to see more into that!

(3) To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before duology

by Jenny Han

I really hope that wasn’t the last book in the series because it was so good until I reached the end! I mean, yes, I was glad that this series improved over time. But, the ending felt so rushed and there were so many things that were kind of left unresolved.

It was just the part where John Ambrose said he’d wait for Lara Jean and then Peter comes into the tree house like one chapter later and kisses her. Like, what? And then, by God! The friendships between Genevieve-Peter-Lara Jean were so unresolved! I think we deserved to see more of that!

(spoiler show)

(2) Shatter Me trilogy

by Tahereh Mafi

Just the ending of this felt like it was the beginning of another story. I mean, everything was resolved and stuff, but then, I could feel like there was room for so much more plot-wise! I think that there should definitely be a spin-off series.

Or, with the new TV show (I think) adaptation that’s coming out, maybe they’ll continue the series onwards?

(1) Delirium trilogy

by Lauren Oliver

Just the ending of this is so ridiculous! I mean, the moment everyone was waiting for just never even happened?! So, what are we all supposed to even read this book for?! It was all just things no one really cared about!

And that’s it, guys! This is this week’s Top 5 Wednesday! Let me know down below in the comments whether or not you agree! :D Thanks for reading everyone and hope you have a great day! Until the next one! :D

The Wedding Tag

Hey guys! Hope you’re having a great day so far! So, a short while ago, a book blogger, Kenzie, from The Reader Who Lives A Thousand Lives created an amazing tag: The Wedding Tag! So, I decided to give this a go! To see the original tag, you guys can click right here!

The Wedding Dress

a book that was either simple and elegant or breathtakingly over the top

I picked simple and elegant, and for this category, I chose the book Audacious by Gabrielle Prendergast because this was an extremely quick read! This book was written in verse and discussed some pretty sensitive issues that I enjoyed such as perception, religion, and art. Although I understand that people may not have like this book as much, it will still be an all-time favorite of mine!

The Wedding Cake

a book that was so scrumptious you just ate it up

For this one, I’m going to go with The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson! This book is probably—even to this day—one of the most unique fantasy books I’ve ever read. This has a character that is physically imperfect, she is practical, she grows into a Queen, and she is so brave and ready to adapt to change. The side characters were really refreshing! And let’s not forget the unique fantasy backdrop with a Spanish theme! :D I LOVE this book SO. MUCH.

The Wedding Party

a book with amazing characters that you fell in love with

I choose . . . Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. I loved every character in this book! From Aristotle and Dante to their parents, and even up to the friends that show up every once in a while. The reason I chose this one is because I feel like all the characters (main and secondary) were so well connected into the story and it made this book a thousand times better than it already was! The family and friendship dynamic is so important in this book, so read this if you haven’t yet!

The Wedding Reception

a book that left you with a major hangover

Umm, I’m trying to decide. This one’s a tie. I can’t choose! Okay, so my two choices are Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare and The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson! I can’t! I loved the ending of both of these so much . . . my heart was equally broken for both! READ BOTH SERIES IF YOU GUYS HAVEN’T YET!

The First Dance

a book that was so beautiful you cried

Umm, I’ve never cried while reading a book. One book that was (the most) beautiful would be Everybody Sees the Ants by A.S. King! I really enjoyed this book. And I think that everyone should read this. This story is so brutally honest, that I am pretty sure I would cry and it’s just so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time! READ THIS ONE TOO! (I need to stop doing that . . . )

The Maid of Honor or The Best Man

a book with two amazing friends

Although this book isn’t my favorite, I’m going to go with it, because from what I’ve read, this one is mostly based on friendship. And, that book is Open Road Summer by Emery Lord. The thing that is so amazing about Reagan and Dee’s friendship is that they’re both so different, but always manage to make time out for one another. Even though Dee is a celebrity, she manages to make as much time for Reagan as any other best friend would. Both these girls are so different, but they probably get one another the most.

The Bride and Groom

a couple you can’t get enough of

Hands down, our little tech-genius Cress and Captain Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Although these two are a new couple addition to the series, they’re just honestly the best couple ever. These two are so adorable and funny that it’s hard to get over them. I, personally, still haven’t. They’re just a refreshing couple! And, I’m not going for the “most beautiful and went through hardships to be together couple” I’m choosing the hands-down most hilarious and awesome couple. Ever.

And, that’s it, guys! This is my Wedding Tag, and once again, thanks for reading and hope you have a great day!

Also an IMPORTANT note:

If any of you are deciding to do this tag, then please post the link of your Wedding Tag in the comments under the ORIGINAL post by The Reader Who Lives A Thousand Lives! Please and Thank You!
