Review: Mama and the Alien Warrior (Treasured by the Alien #1) by Honey Phillips & Bex McLynn

 Mama and the Alien Warrior

 Science Fiction Romance - Aliens

Can a weary warrior and an abducted single mom save each other?

Abby Wentworth never regretted abandoning her corporate career to adopt her orphaned niece and run a maternity home. But she certainly never expected to find herself and her girls abducted by aliens who intend to sell them as breeders.

When they are rescued by a massive alien and his crew, desires she has long suppressed start to surface. She finds herself unexpectedly drawn to the captain who treats both her and her daughter with unwavering devotion.

Until his ship intercepts an illegal Vedeckian trader, Captain Hrebec is resigned to spending his life alone. The Cires lost their females to a plague many years ago. Now for the first time, this luscious human female has him longing for a mate and a family.

But Abby has to get her girls back to Earth, and Hrebec may have one last chance to save his race. Will their duties force them apart? Or will they finally find a family of their own?

Mama and the Alien Warrior is a standalone science fiction romance. This sweet and steamy HEA is intended for adults only.

Mama and the Alien Warrior is book one in the Treasured by the Alien series by Honey Phillips & Bex McLynn.

Hrebec is adorable. I loved him the moment we meet him. He’s sweet and I just loved his interaction with the human child, her mother, and the Cire baby. He’s just heart-melting.

Abby sees herself as a mother figure to these women who where dropped off at her door. She’s protective of everyone in her care.

As the story goes and is explained in the blurb Abby has opened a maternity home for women with no place to go. All of those in her care are kidnapped from earth. Then get rescued by the Cires.

We are introduced to many secondary characters both human and aliens. At times it was hard to keep track of everyone, since so many are introduced and some secondary characters where hooking up besides our leads.

A few things frustrated me and took away from the story.

1. Abby kept saying throughout the book were going back to Earth. We’re leaving. We’re going back. She never asked the young ladies in her care if they wanted to stay with their rescuers or go back to earth. What do these women have to go back too? They had nothing back on Earth so, why go back? It was frustrating how much she kept repeating this.

2. Another thing that frustrated me was with Abby in that she never wanted to explore the possibility of a future with Hrebec, until all the other women said they want to stay. She just pushed off the bond. Even with all the signs.

3. I was very frustrated with Abby in that she thinks she knows what’s best for Molly. What Abby did in keeping Molly away from her mate ended up making Molly suffer. With the suffer all the signs where their that she wasn’t doing well. What Abby did put Molly, her unborn child, and her mates life in danger leading to a medical emergence. And in the end, only two lines are said about this and all is forgiven.

4. Last, It was frustrating that Abby tried to force the women in her care to do as she said and made decisions for them. These are grown women. Even if they are young and one is a teenager she should have talked to them and asked their opinion instead of being a mother in that my word is law.

Now, their were a few things I did enjoy about this story.

1. We are treated to some sweet and tender interactions. My favorite parts where all the interactions with the 2-year-old, Lucie. She was so adorable and open minded with her situation.

2. I enjoyed the aliens and how unique they are.

3. The family bonding parts where just so adorable.

4. Last, I liked how curious the aliens are in seeing a child, infants, and women. Many have never seen children and women; because their race has no women and is dyeing.

Mama and the Alien Warrior was a nice and enjoyable read.

Charlie’s brother has put her in the no-win situation of having to rescue a cyborg from Earth Government. It’s dangerous, she’ll become an outlaw on Earth, but it’s the only way to save her brother’s life. The imprisoned cyborg is rude, conceited and probably the biggest jerk she’s ever had the misfortune to meet. His only redeeming qualities are his handsome face and sexy, muscular body. Just wow! Still, she can’t wait to be rid of him.

All cyborgs hate humans, but Zorus is consumed by it. Chained, enslaved and facing death on Earth once again, he vows revenge. To his utter astonishment, a human female comes to his rescue. She’s rude, mouthy and bossy. And very brave. She baffles him almost as much as she arouses him. Zorus cannot deny that he’s fascinated by her. They are about to lock wills and ignite a firestorm of desire that defies every rule he lives by.

Redeeming Zorus is book six in the Cyborg Seduction series by Laurann Dohner.

Some of the books in this series can be read as stand-alone or out of order. I actually started the series with this book, Redeeming Zorus. It was my first taste and it read well enough on its own with a few references to past events. I actually deiced to start here; because the blurb really appealed to me.

This novel is enemies to lover relationship. Zorus hates humans with a passion and it’s ironic that he falls for one.

The opening is gripping and I had a great time with our dangerous alpha cyborg male and our strong human woman. These two snip at each other as they rush to escape human pursuers. Then their relationship changes to passion as they overcome their differences and become a couple. Things aren’t easy and they had to fight for their relationship and learn to believe and trust in each other.

Redeeming Zorus was truly a wonderful sexy read.

If Iron thinks he can tame her, he’s about to learn that “meek” is not in Dawn’s vocabulary. But with that handsome face, a body to die for, a wickedly talented tongue and those magical hands, the guy just doesn’t fight fair.

Dawn is intent on melting Iron’s icy resolve to never fall in love with a human. He’s winning her heart and she’s determined to win his right back. These two redheads have just met their matches. Let the battle for love begin.

Melting Iron is book three in the Cyborg Seduction series by Laurann Dohner.

I started this series with book six then went forward and then backwards. I ended up picking up the books that’s blurbs appealed to me in this series. Melting Iron sounded good, but turned out to have no plot and was just smut. I want to point out that I feel the later books in the series are better and have more of a plot and romance then the earlier books.

Now I see/understand a little more as to why the Cyborg’s dislike humans and why they act as they do, but for the most part in this book they are dicks and I don’t care for their societies structure that they put into place.

Melting Iron is my least favorite in the series. The storyline is force seduction and to close to rape for my liking. The first half of the story, nothing happens, except sex and fighting.

As for the romance I never felt any love between Iron and Dawn nor did I see our Cyborg change his attitude towards humans.

Unfortunately, I didn’t like how the story played out. Melting Iron was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

But one particular lizard hardly leaves her thoughts—a sexy, two legged, muscular male bent on protecting and caring for her at all costs.

Now he finds himself with dark yearnings, strong need, and a hardness between his legs that he’s never used before.

Red Sands is book one in the Warlords Of Atera series by Celia Kyle as Erin Tate.

Red Sands is currently on Kindle Unlimited and that is how I picked it up. It’s a nice start to the series.

We are introduced to a desert planet with lizard like aliens. There are a few different types of colors for these lizard aliens and each live in different parts of the planet. They all come together during one time of the year to find their mates. During this pilgrimage something falls from the sky. They feel it’s from there goddess.

All the human women where on their way to be brides to aliens when something happens to their ship and now they are stranded on this sand planet. The human women are trying to learn and understand this new world and in doing so some find their soul mates.

Drazen is without doubt a sweetie at heart. I liked him. They aren’t without technology they just don’t bring it on there pilgrimage into the sacred sand lands.

Sheri, I didn’t like her. She struggled with trusting and getting intimate with an alien even thou she signed up to be a bride for another alien race. Contradiction.

The romance is a slow build and slow towards the love scenes. The love scenes where successful, even with the physical differences. I’m not sure if I total believed in the romance by the end; because of how against Sheri was of hooking up with an alien.

I liked the world building. I also enjoyed meeting the different tribes and learning about the lizard culture. I would have liked more information about their wildlife and flora.

We are also treated to a little evil plot in that someone is trying to kill the leader of the Red Lizards.

Red Sands was an ok read.

Review: Tamed (Tribute Brides Of The Drexian Warriors #1) by Tana Stone

Tamed

She’s been promised a dream wedding. The catch? She was abducted from Earth and her groom is a hot alien warrior with a bad attitude.

Taken to a high-tech space station designed to entice human women, LA socialite Mandy is anything but impressed. She’s not falling for their holographic fantasy suites, their promise of a dream wedding, or their gorgeous, brawny warriors. Especially not the arrogant, hot-shot commander she’s been matched with. He may be used to being obeyed, but no way is she following HIS orders. She could care less that he's huge and ripped and drop-dead gorgeous. Right?

The last thing Dorn wants is a mate.

As a Drexian commander tasked with defending his people from a menacing enemy, he has no use for a frail human mate. Even if they are his species’ last chance for survival. Especially not one as spoiled as her.

But, unfortunately for him, he has no choice. Not if he wants to get back to his battleship and save both Earth and the Drexian race from extinction.

This standalone action romance novel features steamy scenes on a holographic fantasy space station, a high-strung alien wedding planner with a penchant for platform shoes, deadly aliens hell-bent on invading Earth, and smoking-hot Drexian warriors with extra erogenous zones who are equally determined to protect Earth.

If you like hot alien warriors, kick-ass Earth women, and steamy romance with a happily ever after and a few laughs, you’ll love Tamed, the first book in Tana Stone’s sci-fi romance Tribute Brides of the Drexian Warriors series.

Goodreads

Amazon

Tamed is book one in the Tribute Brides Of The Drexian Warriors series by Tana Stone.

Mandy is a spoiled brat. I hated her the moment she was introduced on the page and I never got over that dislike. The author tries to show her pain, but I never felt it. She choose the direction her life went in and yet shes wondering why her friends and family abandoned her.

Dorn is a Drexian commander who never wanted to take a bride. He is only doing this; because his brother asks him too and family is important to him. I liked Dorn and his Alpha-ness.

The concept of the Tribute Brides didn’t wow me by how it was done. Earth was facing annihilation by the evil aliens and so they make a treaty with the Drexian’s which is the tribute brides. The brides and humans of Earth don’t know about the Drexian’s. The brides only learn about it once they are taken and when that is done they can never return to Earth. Their only option is to mate a Drexian or have no mate and be stuck doing who knows what on the Boat (alien love boat). Not much of a choice for them. I don’t like how this set up is done.

The romance is non-existent. Lust is in abundance as is sex. Their romance wasn’t a romance. It was sex and outstanding sex, but I never felt them fall in love. Their commitment ceremony is on the fast track, so there is no time for them to get to know each other. Mandy and Dorn needed time and to communicate. What they learn about each other they overhear from other people. That’s not a relationship.

What I liked was learning about the evil aliens The Drexian’s are fighting. I found them interesting. The evil aliens have been fooling the Drexian’s for years.

Tamed was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.
