M is for Matty-Bob (A-Z of Horror Book 13) - Iain Rob Wright

Publication Date: 7th May 2015

Publisher: SalGad Publishing Group

ASIN: B00XCJR1VC

Rating: 5*

Synopsis:

Iain Rob Wright was a young author, trying to support his family by making a name for himself in the Horror genre. He was gathering fans quickly.

But when Iain met a fan named Matty-Bob, things became stranger than fiction. The horror in his life became more than just the words in his books.

Review:

Oh my! I have just finished this latest instalment in the A-Z of Horror and I have tears rolling down my face. This had me laughing out loud and completely grossed out in equal measure, it's definitely the best one yet.

Several parts will no doubt give me nightmares, but I won't give the game away. The only thing I'll say is that I doubt I'll ever eat pizza again!

Review: L is for Lamia (A-Z of Horrors #12) by iain Rob Wright
L is for Lamia (A-Z of Horror Book 12) - Iain Rob Wright

Publication Date: 7th May 2015

Publisher: SalGad Publishing Group

ASIN: B00XC2KW60

Rating:  4*

Synopsis:

Nobody likes a knock at the door late at night, but that’s exactly what happens to one close-knit family on an otherwise ordinary night.

Who is at the door and what do they want?

For family man, Patrick, the answers will be horrifying.

Review:

A lamia is a child-eating demon, in this case in the form of a woman who knocks on Patrick's door late one night. He dismisses her as a strange lady, fully expecting her to go away as he requests. What happens next is shocking...

This short story has an interesting twist at the end, but I didn't enjoy it as much as its predecessors.

Review: K is for Klutz (A-Z of Horror #11) by Iain Rob Wright
K is for Klutz (A-Z of Horror Book 11) - Iain Rob Wright

Publication Date: 5th May 2015

Publisher: SalGad Publishing Group

ASIN: B00X7XGNNU

Rating: 5*

Synopsis:

Fireman, Mark Gunn, is a hero. That’s what sends him racing into a burning building to save an old man.

But it might have been better if Mark had left the old man to his fate, because people have a strange way of dying whenever he is around.

Review:

I really like the plot of this latest instalment of the A-Z of Horror. David, the old man, is a great character too. Everyone who touches him succumbs to a horrible death, as he was given the curse of the Klutz many years ago.

When a fireman pulls David out of his burning home, he ends up in hospital and tells a Dr his story. She vows to track down the person that cursed him to try to get the curse lifted. An interesting story, the best in this story yet.

Review: J is for Jaws (A-Z of Horror #10) by Iain Rob Wright
J is for Jaws (A-Z of Horror Book 10) - Iain Rob Wright

Publication Date: 30th April 2015

Publisher: SalGad Publishing Group

ASIN: B00WZ82BGG

Rating: 4*

Synopsis:

A group of friends in the Gulf of Mexico sunbathe on a yacht. It’s as close as to paradise as you can get.

But something has just woken up in paradise.

And it’s coming.

Review:

Shudder...this brings back memories of certain films featuring horrors at sea, of which I've seen far too many. Yes, it's all been done before, but J is for Jaws is written with intelligence and respect to its predecessors.

In some short stories, it can be really difficult to get much sense of the characters, but here they are described in such a way as they are instantly likeable (or not!) so you can root for them (or not!)

Another great instalment.

Review: I is for Ice (A-Z of Horror #9) by Iain Rob Wright
I is for Ice (A-Z of Horror Book 9) - Iain Rob Wright

Publication Date: 28th April 2015

Publisher: SalGad Publishing Group

ASIN: B00WUCO2Y6

Rating: 4*

Synopsis:

Imagine waking up surrounded by ice. Imagine finding yourself alone with a stranger who controls what you do and where you go. That is the reality for Peter.

He remembers nothing of his old life and nothing of the man named Faraday. All Peter has is questions, and he might not like the answers.

Review:

These short stories in the A-Z of Horror are coming thick and fast now, each one as gruesome as the last. I enjoyed the human elements of this story and felt really sorry for Peter - how terrible it must be to not remember anything about yourself or your life, let alone being awoken after being frozen in ice.

The story built nicely as Peter remembered a few things and learned a few more. There was a good amount of suspense and the conclusion...well, you'll have to see for yourself!
