How A Thief Became An Unlikely King And Prove He is The King of Kings
The King of Attolia (Queen's Thief) - Megan Whalen Turner

As sequels goes, its not easy to do a good follow up. The King of Attolia did not out done the previous book but it manages to stay at its form, which to me, has done pretty much expected after The Queen of Attolia. Once again, I fell in love more of the world of The Queen's Thief series and once again, I just can't get enough of Eugenides.

Eugenides is now King of Attolia and he has become the least favorite among the guards and his attendants. The unlikely king has been played on pranks, insults and even lost respect by those who can't trust the thief of Eddis. This is why he has choose Costis, an unlikely naive young guard to be his private attendant, who would want Eugenides dead then be the king of Attolia. But because Costis is loyal to the Queen, following orders is what he does best... until Gen has proven himself he is not just the Thief of Eddis, he can be the King of Attolia even though he does not behave like one.

There is so much to love about the second sequel - the intrigued plot, the twist and the pacing is just right. Although The Queen of Attolia had its unexpected moments and vivid immersive worlds, The King of Attolia focus more on a young guard point of view on Eugenides and how the Thief won their loyalty, in an unexpected way. Yes, there are conspirators among guards whom hated Gen and wanted him dethrone, but in the end, as the writing goes, is as beautiful as ever that you never expect truly is a worthy read.

As always, I am looking forward to the fourth book. There is so much to love and enjoy, and still some surprises that never cease to amaze me. The Queen's Thief series is some thing that works and never fails and its a series worth keeping on my shelve for a long time.

The King of Attolia
The King of Attolia - Megan Whalen Turner

I don't know what's going on, friends. I feel like I never bump up book ratings like this, but I'm just really into this series this time around.

I'm still in love with the characters, but the plotting continues to be great. You really have to pay attention to these books, but it's worth it in the end to really soak in all the details.

There's also a mistake on booklikes so this book, third in the series, is showing up as a different edition of The Queen of Attolia? Not sure what's up with that.

Everything else under a read more because I don't want to accidentally spoil anything. It gets long under the cut and again, this stuff probably isn't interesting to anyone but me.

The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner
The King of Attolia - Megan Whalen Turner

I wish this book was much longer so I could keep reading and reading and reading. It's arranged almost like a series of short episodes, and Turner's decision to use marginal characters for POV kept me dying to know about Eugenides with whom we've always been much closer. What's Gen thinking? Planning? Doing? Sneaking? But we get a lot of his sarcastic personality through dialogue, which satiated my curiosity by the end.

Since every book has provided a change in perspective, scope, and method of character development, now I'm curious to know how A Conspiracy of Kings is going to go down. I loved the geo-political conflicts of The Queen of Attolia, but this book in the circumscribed setting of the royal court was more on-point with the wit.

#TheQueen'sThief: I Am Smitten
The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1) - Megan Whalen Turner
The Queen of Attolia (The Queen's Thief, #2) - Megan Whalen Turner
The King of Attolia (The Queen's Thief, #3) - Megan Whalen Turner
A Conspiracy of Kings (The Queen's Thief, #4) - Megan Whalen Turner

You must know this first.

I am smitten.

The Queen's Thief is why I read. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

Will someone please explain why I haven't heard of Megan Whalen Turner or The Queen's Thief before? What else has the world been hiding from me that I should already know about?

Tell me you haven't felt like this before. Go ahead. I dare you.

There are four books in this series, with rumors of at least two more...although I'm not getting my hopes up, the last book was published in 2010. Never fear. Book four ends in a very good place.

Book 1: The Thief
Book 2: The Queen of Attolia
Book 3: The King of Attolia
Book 4: A Conspiracy of Kings

Not to mention--the book covers are totally sweet!

This is the story of Eugenides--The Queen's Thief himself--and how he is a completely wonderful literary character. It's one of the most well written and clever series of books I've read. The writing is so confident (yes, confident), I was powerless to resist being pulled into Gen's world.

Of course, only his closest friends can call him Gen. That's me. I've read the books. We're tight.

This is fantastic fantasy at its finest, with epic story lines to follow, heroes to adore, villains to despise, lessons to learn, kingdoms to save, love to find, and twists to try (and fail) to anticipate. The twists! Oh, the twists, Twists, TWISTS! Just when you think you have it, you realize you've been long-conned since before you even knew you needed to watch out for the trick. The world building and polytheistic culture is as lovely as it is tight. I'm telling you, this is top quality stuff.

Don't allow yourself to waste any more of your life having not read The Queens Thief.

I can't abide my friends not knowing they are missing something great.

Read. Now.

My job is done.

I wash my hands.

Currently Reading (aka still reading these)
The King of Attolia - Megan Whalen Turner
Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business - Neil Postman,Andrew Postman
Deceptions - Kelley Armstrong
The Art of Hearing Heartbeats - Jan-Philipp Sendker

I can not believe how I'm dragging my butt on these books! it's  not like they are bad and not holding my attention, just..I don't know not in the reading mood.(again!)

The King of Attolia

This is the third book in the series. the first book was a slow read for me , but the second book I flew through and enjoyed a lot. This book is bringing in a new character and I'm not sure what to make of him so far. Also I'm not sure what Eugenides up to either.

I'm on page 44.

Deceptions: A Cainsville novel

Also a third book in a series.

I'm on page 25 of this one, so not to far at all. I think I may fly through this one if I just give it more of my attention. I really love the character Gabriel.

*side note - I hate this red cover on this HB copy. It makes it feel like those Contemporary Romance/Suspense books. (not that there is anything wrong with those, but it just isn't this type of story)

Amusing Ourselves to Death

Reading this one to see if I want to add it to my son's reading list for school. I'm not that far in to it , but it so far it's interesting.

“Television is our culture's principal mode of knowing about itself. Therefore -- and this is the critical point -- how television stages the world becomes the model for how the world is properly to be staged. It is not merely that on the television screen entertainment is the metaphor for all discourse. It is that off the screen the same metaphor prevails."

Need to pick up The Art Of Hearing Heartbeats and read it before next Thursday, which is Book Club day!

*shit, I just saw some of the ratings on this one and honestly, not looking forward to reading another book that got bunches of 2 stars for a rating.  Who's picking out these bad books?!
