review SPOILER ALERT! 2016-09-16 18:37
Winter's Touch (The Last Riders #8) - Jamie Begley

I liked this book as I did with all her others as it sucked me in from the start, I once again liked Winter and Viper but not so much Viper near the beginning especially when it came to the new club whore Sasha who kept trying to come between Winter and Viper especially when he kept putting Sasha first and humiliating Winter in the process, I felt for Winter when she saw Viper and Sasha together alot but a part of me did think that there was more to it and I was right and I liked that it was all to do with Viper secretly building a house for Winter and Sasha was the interior designer for it but I think Sasha will try and cause more trouble throughout the rest of the books.
I liked the pregnancy storyline and one part had me on the edge of my seat, I liked the parts with Killyama but yet again not so much with Train as I thought he was a little too slutty but not with Killyama and they didn't really interact in this book so I'm curious to see how their book goes, I'm hoping in their story that he will have to fight for her and that she won't give in too quickly.
I enjoyed the epilogues and I'm hoping there will be stories to do with the next generation.

Long Hard Ride By Lorelei James 99 cents
Long Hard Ride (Rough Riders series Book 1) - Lorelei James

One lucky woman is in for the ride of her life with three sexy cowboys...

During summer break, wannabe wild woman Channing Kinkaid is offered the chance to shed her inhibitions and horse around on the road with a real chaps-and-spurs wearing rodeo cowboy.

From the moment Colby McKay-bull rider, saddle bronc buster and calf roper-sets his lust-filled eyes on the sweet and fiery Channing, he knows she's up to the challenge of being his personal buckle bunny. But he also demands that his rodeo traveling partners, Trevor and Edgard are allowed to join in their no-holds-barred sexcapades.

Although Channing secretly longed to be the sole focus of more than one man's passions, all is not as it seems with the sexy trio. Colby's demand for her complete submission behind closed doors tests her willful nature, and his sweet-talking ways burrow into her heart.

Will Colby have to break out the bullropes and piggin' string to convince this headstrong filly that the road to true love doesn't have to be as elusive as that championship belt buckle?

Warning: this story has tons of explicit sex, graphic language that'd make your mama blush, light bondage, ménage a trois, and-yee-haw!-hot nekkid cowboy man-love

DETOUR AHEAD by Adriana Kraft
Detour Ahead (Riders Up Book 4) - Adriana Kraft,Rebecca Poole
This is Traci Steele's story. Cassie plays matchmaker to get Traci fixed with Scott McCord. She sends Traci out to California on a vacation and to help Scott discover who is harming the horses he has certified as being ready to race.

I enjoyed this story. I liked Traci vulnerability when it comes to romance and men because of her past. It is a contrast to her no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners attitude as a prosecuting attorney and investigator. I loved watching her outline the case and her instincts were right on. It was a good mystery. I also liked that I figured out who and why before the end of the story.

I loved Scott. His patience and tenderness were what Traci needed even if neither was very hospitable to the other at the beginning. I particularly liked how the story went from one viewpoint to the other so I always knew what each one was thinking about the other or the situation. I liked both their sensitivity to the other as situations developed throughout the story. Harsh words were spoken but how Scott and Traci handled those words was wonderful to watch This is a mature couple who have handled difficult situations in the past but have learned from them and do not give up what is important without a fight and serious soul-searching.

This book ends the Riders Up series. I will miss this series and these characters.

WILLOW SMOKE by Adriana Kraft
Willow Smoke (Riders Up Book 3) - Adriana Kraft

Daisy now trains horses at Arlington while attending college. When her favorite is sold, she is afraid she will not see him again. Nick, the new owner, had been thinking of selling the horse but when he sees Daisy with the horse, he changes his mind and wants Daisy to teach him about horses and horse racing. Daisy has baggage with her sister and brother-in-law. When Reggie realizes that Daisy has a golden egg with Nick, he wants his share and is not above threatening her through her sister.

I like Daisy. She is grown up and is independent. She still needs Cassie as a sounding board but she will make her own decisions and holds her cards close to her chest. She opens up with Nick but still will not tell him everything about her life. Nick knows she is withholding information but he is too afraid to lose her to push her. Being almost twice her age he is afraid of the age difference pushing her away is enough without any additional pressure of what she is hiding.

I like Nick. He is not involved with horses or racing unlike the other heroes of this series. He is a businessman and sees every aspect of his horse and future stable as a business but he has a soft spot for Daisy. He will do whatever it takes for her to be happy and comfortable.

This can be read as a standalone but you will get a greater sense of who Daisy is and where she comes from if you read book 1 first, Cassie's Hope. It sets up Daisy's story and gives her background and why she allows her sister and brother-in-law in her life. I have to say that this book for me was the most emotional one of the series so far. The last Macy's scene tore my heart apart. I cried and could not pick up another book for a short while. The scene lingered with me. I loved Nick's sensitivity and Daisy's vulnerability. I still get choked up when thinking about that scene.

Adriana Kraft has created memorable characters that linger long after the story has ended and I closed the book. She has done what an author should--brought me into the book's world and made me care about the characters so that my world will not be the same before their foray into it.
