Nach dem Tod von ihrem Ehemann Ben, lässt Charlie sich in ihrer Trauer einfach fallen. Sie hat keine Motivation zum Aufräumen, zum Essen, um mit ihrem Hund spazieren zu gehen und und und. Sie kann einfach aus dem Loch nicht mehr aus und hängt an ihren Erinnerungen fest.
Charlie lässt sich sehr hängen. Denn sie sieht keinen Sinn mehr in ihrem Leben. Ben war alles für sie. Sie hat das Gefühl missverstanden zu werden, braucht aber eigentlich trotzdem ihre Leute.
Früher hat sie nur so vor Leben und Energie gesprüht. Sie war herzlich und ist in ihrem Job als Tierärztin richtig aufgegangen.
Es gibt hier mehr oder weniger nur 4 Charaktere, die hervorstechen. Die anderen kommen eher am Rand vor. Von Charlie bekommt man sehr tiefe Einblicke. Auch ihre beste Freundin, ihren Ehemann und seinen besten Freund lernt man mit der Zeit besser kennen. Sie wirken alle sehr real.
Ava Reed lässt Charlie die Geschichte in zwei Strängen erzählen. Einmal die Momentaufnahmen, wie es ihr geht. Und auf der anderen Seite ihre Erinnerungen.
So lernt man als Leser auch die Vorgeschichte zu Charlie und Ben kennen. So kann lernt man die Charaktere besser kennen und kann einiges mit der Zeit deuten.
Da Charlie sehr real wirkt und die Autorin es geschafft hat Charlies Gefühle, ihre Kraftlosigkeit und auch ihre „hellen“ Seiten an den Leser zu transportieren, leidet man einfach mit. Oder freut sich mit ihr. Je nach dem Ob man in der Gegenwart ist oder in ihren Erinnerungen.
An einem Punkt versteht man Charlie dann vielleicht nicht mehr. Man kann nicht begreifen, warum sie wirklich alles hinwirft.
Doch nach dem Ende, wenn man alles nochmal durch geht, fallen einem folgende Zitate ein:
„Ich kann nichts sagen, sie würde es sowieso nicht verstehen. “
„Nur weil man glaubt, etwas zu verstehen, heißt das nicht, dass man das wirklich tut.“
Keiner kann genau verstehen, wie Charlie sich fühlt. Denn jeder ist anders, liebt anders und fühlt anders.
Man fragt sich dann wie hätte ich reagiert als Charlie, als beste Freundin, als Elternteil, …
Das Cover zeigt eine junge, blonde Frau vor einem Kornfeld. Man sieht sie von hinten und kann erkennen, dass sie die Arme vor sich verschränkt hat. Es ist alles in Gelb gehalten.
Nach dem ich Spiegelsplitter von Ava Reed gelesen hatte und das Cover sah, war klar, dass ich „For Good“ lesen musste. Auch wenn ich es bei der Leserunde nicht gewonnen habe, habe ich es mir geholt. Das Buch hat mich einfach mitgenommen. Ich habe mit Charlie gelitten, gelacht und geweint. Ava Reed hat da ein sehr geniales Buch geschrieben, dass mich tief berührt hat.
