The Omega and the Assassin - Stephani Hecht 3 1/2 Hearts

Review written for MM Good Book Reviews

This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Simon is an assassin, he is the best tracker in the group but when hunting for some giant baby spiders he is assigned The best tracker the wolves have... an omega. Finn really doesn't want to work with an assassin, but if he wants more missions then he has to prove he can handle himself, but damn Simon is a jerk! As the two work together they surprise each other and soon their attraction flares to life but will their budding love survive when they face opposition from Finn's brothers.

This is a great addition to Wayne County Wolves with us being introduced to more shifters who have suffered in the past. When Simon and Finn first meet neither man is really impressed with the other, they might look good enough to eat but first impressions are poor. Working together they see beneath the surface and their attraction flares, but they both want to see what they can have together before broadcasting it to the world. Finn has his brothers to think about, especially his protective older brother Tate, but his feelings for Simon won't be denied. Simon has only ever had his fellow assassins and has never really cared for anyone before, but Finn has shattered all Simon's defenses to worm his way into his heart.

So we meet new characters in this installment of Wayne County Wolves and I have to say that I really hope that two of them will be getting stories of their own. We meet Finn who isn't like normal omegas, he knows how to fight and has a super sensitive nose, he wants to do more for the pack but his older brother is protective. Simon is an assassin and Finn is the one who finds the chink in his armor, showing Simon himself that he can have more than meaningless sex and that he is more than just an assassin. They get to know each other before they act on their attraction and then wait longer before they finally admit how they feel about each other, but they have to bring Tate around because he is opposed to the relationship. Finn also has to make his twin brother, Kline, let him go and make Tate accept that Kline should also have a life of his own.

I really enjoyed this story and loved the way that neither Finn or Kline is a typical omega, both of them learning to fight and protect after their parents were killed. Both brothers are unique and I think they make a great addition to the series, Finn and Simon's story is great and we see them clearing all the spiders that escaped in [b:The Leopard who Changed his Spots|18144676|The Leopard who Changed his Spots (Wayne County Wolves # 6)|Stephani Hecht|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1372730185s/18144676.jpg|25494134].

I recommend this to those who love shifters overcoming their pasts, danger, great characters, hot sex, tension and a great ending.

Braxton's Salvation - Stephani Hecht 1.5 stars.

Summary: Unlikable characters, less than mediocre storyline+climax and romance.

Positive points (god help me for this category):

-It's M/M? I mean, gaymance is a pretty fabulous genre, so brownie points for that?

Urgh, I'm not even going to try to add anything to that category anymore. Why do I do this to myself.

Overall, many people seem to like this author but I just don't think her books and my mind mix very well. This is the second book of hers that I've tried and I'm really not too impressed. There are better PWPP (Porn with Pathetic Plot) out there that at least make me laugh at how bad it is. I suppose it's a good thing that this book never reached that kind of low, but still, at least I enjoy those books.

Braxton's Salvation - Stephani Hecht A Hearts On Fire ReviewTWO & A HALF STARS--"Braxton's Salvation" is book #3 in the Wayne County Wolves series set in Detroit by Stephani Hecht. I have not read this series before and would suggest to follow the series to fully get all of the secondary characters' references. I was slightly lost with certain things but nit so much that I had to grab the first two.Braxton is the title character, he's half breed (human/ wolf shifter), disabled, asthmatic and lonely. But he is not lonely for long when a former one-night stand saves him from near death and claims...he's his mate. His mate's name? Wright. And get this, Wright is also from a family of half breed shifters. Wright happens to also be a wolf shifter and on the run from the government. Wright is possessive and a bit stalker-ish but in a good way. And apparently has the more staid name in his family menagerie. (A sister named Defeat and three brother named Justice, Might and...Salvation! I wondered why the title wasn't just called Braxton's Wright instead. *shrug*)Their case of insta-love was to be expected. The men weren't exactly macho but there was only one crying jag so that's a plus. There were some parts where the author confused the characters being referred upon. So inturn, I git a little confused and the crime fighter names of Wright and Co. did jar reading at times. There's a mini-crisis, it gets resolved and the two men continue their love fest and there's a HEA. It's decent mindless fun. It was like chewing a fresh stick of bubble gum, good for the first couple of minutes but not extremely long lasting in remembering much story details. It's an okay read. I might visit this series again. The author had a few interesting future plot lines.

Run, Alger, Run - Stephani Hecht 2.5*My Stephani Hecht addiction needed a fix! This is typical of her shifter books of late, quick short and not terribly great, but an easy read.Alger is a rabbit shifter living in an eclectic group of shifters! ( dove, ferret and a beagle...lol)He runs into Nico at a fair and well..as they say the rest is history. But, I am getting really annoyed with the use of 'brat' in stories for the younger or smaller man/shifter.Just because they give a little lip doesn't mean they are brats, obviously they can't intimidate with size so they have to use what they have. The constant use of brat and thinking about spanking him like a wayward child just annoys me!
