NYC Schtick: "Woody Allen on Woody Allen" by Woody Allen, Stig Björkman
Woody Allen on Woody Allen - Woody Allen,Stig Björkman

(Original Review, 2002-05-28)

Haven't seen “Annie Hall” in years (I’m going to rectify it today), but I thought the best lines were when Allen's and Keaton's characters are asked by their analysts the same question, in split-screen:

"How often do you have sex?
Keaton: 'Almost constantly-- twice a week.'
Allen: 'Almost never-- twice a week.' "

Personally I'd also put “Sleeper” and “Play it Again Sam” in the same level as “Annie Hall”, both of which are also laugh out loud funny. But I don’t love Woody Allen’s films because they’re funny (and some of them like “Manhattan” are not that funny.)

Without Feathers by Woody Allen
Without Feathers - Woody Allen

Description: Here they are--some of the funniest tales and ruminations ever put into print, by one of the great comic minds of our time. From THE WHORE OF MENSA, to GOD (A Play), to NO KADDISH FOR WEINSTEIN, old and new Woody Allen fans will laugh themselves hysterical over these sparkling gems.

Read by His Nibs. 2 hours 13mins.

Glad this was short; probably would have found this far funnier at a younger age.

Woody Allen: Reel to Real (Digidialogues) - Alex Sheremet

While I've only ever watched one Woody Allen film, and I didn't get the humor of it, I've always been curious as to why so many people loved Woody Allen's films. Especially considering the tabloid stories that follow him around. Because of this, I decided to give this book a try to get a better understanding.
The author delivers a chronological order of each of Woody Allen's movies. He includes in-depth details about each movie, including critiques and Woodie Allen's own opinion, both good and bad. The way the author describes each reminds me that these movies shouldn't be taken so seriously and accept them for what they are.
The only critique I would have takes place in the preface when the author gives the impression that he feels everyone should be a huge fan. I can't say that I'll now have a Woody Allen movie marathon, but if I ever catch one of his movies, I'll be more willing to watch them. The author did give me a better understanding and appreciation for him.

Eğrisi Doğrusu
Eğrisi Doğrusu - Woody Allen Küçük, sıcak bir kitap. Gülümseten, felsefi fıkralar ve Woody'yi bilenlerin şaşırmayacağı absürt bir evren var.
