- So are you still trudging through the Margaret Atwood? - George, you should stop being so dismissive! Have you ever read it? - Well, I think I got as far as chapter three. Typical po-mo cleverness with a story inside a story inside... anyway, I decided I couldn't take any more, so I gave up. - So ...

atwood's Booker Prize-winning novel is a slow and melancholy downward movement, one in which the melancholy becomes cumulative. despite the sad and tragic tone, there are many paths to pure enjoyment present: through the precise, judgmental, drily amusing recollections of the narrator as she recount...

Another great read and phenomenal book from Margaret Atwood! Quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. This is the abridged audio CD set. Not a format I would advice. But for me this was a re-read. I read this book before in 2002 and used this audio version to refresh my memory. As such, it worked very well.

Really good read. the narrator's memoirs are told in retrospective, and mingle past with present. Keeps you gently guessing about several plot twists (which I wont reveal, that would be cruel!) right through to the end. Very satisfying read.

This one was a reading assignment from my then girlfriend. Wheels within wheels. It started my love affair with the framed narrative.
