The government can't keep our kids from looking for trouble on those streets. Our government can't force a kid to pick up a book or make sure that the homework gets done. Government can't be there day in, day out, to provide discipline and guidance and the love that it takes to raise a child. That's our job as fathers, as mothers, as guardians for our children " (President Obama).

In today’s world of change, the standard of family in society is being redefined because children are growing up not learning the importance of marriage, family, the values/ lessons associated with those and most importantly, how vital fathers are in families. While some may say that the above statements represent ‘old-fashioned’ values, the purpose of this paper is to argue the importance of father figures in the home.
