Best when the protagonist of many names is at his most irreverant (like some of the characteres Hugh Laurie plays), but that happens less and less as the story progresses. I found the story line abit complicated and scattered to really hold together as well as it could have. Still a fun read.
I enjoyed Mr. Laurie's wit and dry humor. The plot was interesting enough to keep my interest. Overall, light reading. Not heavy on technical details or character exploration. I finished reading this novel a couple of years ago when I was in Venice, not far from the Canale Grande di San Marco. The writing was fresh, engaging and all in all, it was a good story. Hope this novel wasn't a "one-off" for Hugh Laurie.
