Oh, Phillipa Gregory. I read anything you write no matter how eye-twitch-inducing. Bonus: your novels get an extra star every time they don't involve incest.
Title and Statement of Responsibility
Somehow, author Philippa Gregory manages to take one of the Western world's best known stories, give it a new spin, and make it fresh and appealing. The Other Boleyn Girl is told from the perspective of Anne's (possibly) younger sister, Mary, but is ultimately a finely drawn portrait of a group of p...

I had heard this was a good book and my library had it on audio so I thought I'd try it. I listened for about half an hour then turned it off. I couldn't follow the story very well and in my mind I kept comparing it to the Masterpiece Theatre series I watched years ago on the wives of Henry VIII. ...

When it comes to history I have always tended towards places such as Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome and Russia. I've never had much interest in England as a whole and little interest in the royalty. I saw the movie before I read the book, though it was a couple years ago and I've forgotten a lot of the details. I could not stop reading this book- literally. I wanted to because I was annoyed with many of the characters. But I didn't. In fact, I once again ignored my house, the dishes, the vacuuming, everything else, to finish it.The book has been reviewed to death so I won't go into any details. I think the...
A Book Addict's Musings by Readinghearts
Regardless of what you think about Philippa Gregory, she is a great storyteller, and this book did not disappoint. I know that she is not long on historical accuracy, I know that she embellishes and invents. I also know that this story was a page turner from beginning to end. This book is the sto...

Fantastic book. I like how this really puts an insider twist on a story almost everybody knows well. Mary could get a bit whiny at times, and Anne could be a downright bitch, but all in all, it is a well thought out story and a fun read.
