Great example of Victorian era fiction. The air of wonder and mystery is heightened by having an everyman narrator in the frame story tell the reader the story he heard from the adventuresome protagonist time traveller. Wells expressed some strong views about humanity which, though I don't think t...

Just finished reading this for my Literature for Young Adults class. I enjoyed the concept and even enjoyed analyzing it for class, but I have come to the conclusion that this book is actually more fun to talk about than it is to actually read. That may have more to do with the writing style of the ...

Have you ever watched a movie and you loved it..not just loved it, but thought about it all the time..so much that you just knew you had to read the book or else it would drive you crazy wanting details that you knew never made the cut? That's why I read this book. And it was good. Really good. ...

Interesting enough but not enough backbone to support the thought of a time machine. The best Science Fiction book that I have ever read. Well's is completely unsparing in a view of evolution that is completely shorn of any progressive telos. The warnings of a society divided into haves and haves nots retains its power. Brilliant novel and underappreciated.

Although I am not saying this is now a favourite novella of mine, I definitely think that everyone who is interested in dystopia should read it (it is only 92 pages). Wells is called after all "The father of science-fiction".He tells about another world, a world in a far off future that looks idyll...

Probably the first true science fiction novel ever written. H.G. Wells played a huge part in shaping how we look at sc-fi today. For that I salute him. Although I will say, if one were to be specific, Jules Verne is truly the grandfather of sci-fi. Nonetheless. The Time Machine isn't bad book. To me...

This was a difficult book for me to get into initially, due to the scientific and mathematical chatter in the first chapter. I managed to trudge through, as it did not last long and the Time Traveller was off and returned from his adventure soon enough. The narrative then became quite verbose and des...

I had forgotten how cute the details were in this story. Part of me wishes that it was written as a serial and this much longer.
