Interesting concept and solid writing. It just didn't grab me like her Vampire-books did. It also felt a bit same old, same old, though it technically wasn't.
There's a brilliant madness to the excesses of this novel. Quite like New Orleans itself, the city she adores and adores writing about, Rice's prose is decadent, perhaps a bit overwrought, but all the more beautiful for it.
