My name is Ceridwen, and I've read the last two years' worth of Nebula novel nominees. (Say that three times fast.) And I accurately predicted the winners, just to brag a little. I'm thinking I'll set up thread, both spoiler-free and spoiler-full, for each novel. Come on in!
I probably won't read them all, but there are several on there I am interested in! I'm definitely more of a fantasy dork than a sci-fi geek.
I'm probably equal parts both, but some of those harder sf books just put me to sleep.
Have you read Ancillary Justice? I feel like I should read that one before Ancillary Sword.
I have; it's wonderful. And, though I don't always think this, it is probably essential reading before you get to the sequel. There are a couple sequels or books in a series in the nominees this year, which is problematic. I'm going to skip the six books before Coming Home, because ain't nobody got time for that, but I'll probably at least skim over Fire With Fire, the book before Trial by Fire. (Fire With Fire was nominated last year, but I couldn't get through it. Hard sf is not my friend.)
Haha. I totally agree with the skipping of the six prior books. You're so right about nobody got time for that! I'll probably skip that one altogether.
I almost wonder if the Coming Home nomination was one of those "sorry we overlooked you in the past" deals. Like all eleventy Wheel of Time novels getting the Hugo nomination last year; that was just stupid. But then I don't know McDevitt's stuff, so I don't know what awards he's been up for in the past.
I just had to join when I saw your rules!

Plus there are several books on the list that I'm planning on reading.
Excellent!
I haven't read any of his Alex Benedict books, but his Academy books, you'd be fine starting not on the first one (and, srsly, if you do start them, skip the second one).
Good to know.
I'm kinda late to the party (especially considering that the Nebula Awards Weekend starts today)
BUT if you guys are still up for discussing books, I'd love to join you!!!
I haven't gotten a chance to look that this years nominated books, but an all time favorite of mine is Ender's Game, which I'd love to discuss if you want to open it up to all nominated/nebula award winning books!
Sure, start up a thread. I actually did read them all this year, but I kept forgetting to post here.

That's all the reviews I've written.
