Are you aware of any great promotions or giveaways currently running? Here is one for you! It is called the Fall into Fantasy Giveaway. I do not have a work in this giveaway, but I am helping to promote it! Find out more on my page at http://patriciareding.booklikes.com/post/635579/fallintofantasy.
I am currently offering 10 free e-books at Booklikes of my new YA Fantasy Novel, The Count of the Living Death. It's also available on Amazon for 99 cents, which is virtually a giveaway as well! Here's a brief synopsis to give you a sense of the book, which blends traditional fantasy, Gothic literature, and comedy in one neat, 230 page package:

Count Leopold always wondered about the strange chest sealed with three magic locks. His father warned him never to mention the Box—nor pry into the secret chamber where it was kept. Now the Box has begun speaking to Leopold, begging him to find the key and undo the hateful locks. If he does so, it promises him to fulfill his every desire, even offering him the hand of the forbidden—and forbiddingly named— Lady Mary Bianca Domenica de Grassini Algarotti. However, before unfastening the third lock he catches a glimpse of something unspeakable inside—and turns to the only man who shared his father’s secret, the legendary Conjurer-Magician, Hildigrim Blackbeard. A man who, if the stories are true, will exact a terrible price in return for his service.

I'm seeking reviewers as well, since it was just published last week, so if you feel compelled to love it or hate it, post away. Thanks either way!

It sounds great Joshua! Thank you for joining the group and for sharing your special with us all! I have such a long TBR list, but I may just have to add this one. . . .

Ha, I'm just glad someone read it! We live in an age blessed with good books...a curse for a struggling author! :) Unfortunately, I'm one of those readers that the more I read, the more I want to write...and I'm a teacher as well, so whenever I teach a book, I want to re-read it, which makes me want to write something inspired by it, etc, etc. It's a never-ending cycle. That said, I'm glad to join the group!

I understand completely. I practice law and write fantasy on my "off" time. Ha! Yes, there are so many good books and the piles just keep getting bigger!

What do you teach?

So, Joshua--why don't you get your "official" status with BookLikes (the green check mark) that shows you are an author? Did you not know you could or are you not interested in doing that? Just curious!
Actually, I only learned about BookLikes from a friend recently--between grading, reading, and writing, I haven't figured out the basics of the site yet. I'll do that now, so thanks! :)

I teach--big surprise--English literature, mostly British Literature from Shakespeare to the 19th century. I also teach a lot of Humanities classes (World lit, Non-Western lit, poetry), composition courses, and courses on graphic novels. My book is chock-full of these influences, though fantasy itself is what led me to the English major, and ultimately, to pursue a Ph.D. Unfortunately, as much as I love teaching, I never quite licked the writing bug. I've published a lot in academic circles, but that's not nearly as exciting or satisfying as writing novels and short stories and seeing them in print. I'm not sure much will come of this e-book venture, but until I get an agent to actually read my stuff, it's the best I can do!
I am promoting a "holiday" giveaway of my first work, OATHTAKER, on Goodreads. Find it here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17567251-oathtaker?from_search=true. Please, do look into it and sign up--and please feel free to share the information with others. Thank you! Are others of you offering giveaways at this time?

Hi Guys!

I hope it's OK for me to post here, as it's a group for writers as well as readers I wanted to let you know that I'm a professional proofreader and copy-editor who LOVES working with Indie Authors! Fantasy is my strongest genre, and as well as writing myself (currently unpublished, but I have a YA title with an agent) I've also been advance-reviewing fantasy titles for the Big Six for over three years now.

I offer a 5% discount for Indies, and am always excited to work on a fantasy project.

If you'd like to know more, have a look at www.markhamcorrect.com - and feel free to shout if you have any questions :)

Thanks for reading, and happy writing!

Zoe.
