Oh, my...!!!!

Those gifs are still better than goblin rape. Though the second one did make me think about the way some authors crap out books without much thought. :)

Yeah. Hey Ange, speaking of pen names, when you go to book signings do you sign as Ange or Bijou? Did you have to create a whole new signature? Do you respond when people yell "Bijou!" What's it like having such a successful series running under a different name?
Reply to post #922 (show post):

Why, Nemo, thanks for asking? :P

I did practice my Bijou signature before the signing. I do respond to Bijou, but I respond to many names: Angela, mom, teacher, lady, you there. I'm very easygoing that way. As for having a successful series under any name at all...

Oh, yeah. I was a little disappointed to see that your new book was only the 283rd most sold e-book on Amazon. You know, from the 284 or so books the mighty ´Zon is selling. :P

In more pen names news, Hawkins is back to lying about Charlton. See, this innocent author was magically banned the same night as her and GR magically told her that he was banned.

Contrary to Hawkins's claims, Miranda and I never mentioned Daines to GR. As far as I know, no one has ever reported comments or blogs by this author Jaq promotes so often. Yet, GR simply decided to boot "him" along with Jaq and her throwaway accounts. Makes perfect sense.

This is the interview I did with pen name. It's very clear I am talking to me, not pretending to promote a different person like Jaq did with Charlton.

As for poor Briggs, here is the new book page. As you can see, NO ONE has rated it. Not even Enema's many fans.

In this comment, Jaq excuses her misbehavior by saying GR made her do it. She also makes a pretty serious accusation against GR regarding breaking privacy laws.

That gif had my youngest boy in stitches. :)
While checking out GR to see if Enema's abusive blog post was removed, I noticed a review she wrote. The reason I'm posting it here should be pretty obvious. If this was a review for her book, she'd call it a vicious attack by trolls. Hell, she didn't even finish the book, but still gave it one star. Ooh, that's a definite bully move.

Author Elle Casey is coming out in support for Anne Rice (and maybe STGRB, but that's a little unclear). Here's her post:

(hide spoiler) You know you’re an online bully when …

I was thinking about the online bullying of authors, after reading the article about Anne Rice and the bullying she experienced (she is not alone – lots of us have suffered from this sickening trend), and it struck me how strange it is that a person who might be perfectly nice in public can become a menacing troll online, under the cover of anonymity. There’s a petition directed at Amazon here, by the way, if you want to sign it. I did.

Impulse control

Online bullying is an impulsive behavior. When I’ve seen it happen and the comments start piling up, it’s almost inevitable that the original poster removes the original post and sometimes they end up deleting entire websites and online profiles as the fallout comes crashing down and it spirals out of control. People start or enter conversations without stopping to think. They let their fingers fly and allow passion to take charge. They get all riled up and start saying the craziest things. We don’t do this in polite company. When we’re upset with someone, we pause for a moment to reflect: should I say that or not? This is why I believe not permitting anonymous posting on Amazon reviews and Amazon forums would stop this behavior. When people know that what they say will be assigned to their names, they pause to reflect and act like they would if they were standing in front of you.

Could it be that they just don’t realize?

Anyway, as my mind was wandering like it often does, I started thinking … what exactly is an online bully or a troll? What are the behaviors one might assign this moniker to? As I came up with a list of things I’ve seen and experienced as an author, I realized that it’s very possible some people might act as bullies while not realizing that’s what they’re doing. And then I was thinking that maybe those people would stop, or at least pause and consider their actions before taking them, if they had a list of bullying behaviors to which they could compare their own. With that in mind, I’ve created this Jeff-Foxworthy-inspired post.

You know you’re an online bully when …

You’re not a forum moderator, but you go to the forums and “police” them anyway, scolding, lecturing, or taking action against other posters when they do things that don’t follow your rules of proper behavior.
You see a message from someone online discussing an author’s poor behavior, and then seek out that author online and say negative things to or about her, like a judge meting out a form of punishment. And/or you incite others to join the fray. The overriding thought here is: “We need to teach that author a lesson.”
You write a negative book review for a book you haven’t read.
You write a book review that includes negative personal judgments about the author.
You do anything online with this thought providing the impetus: “Oh, yeah? Well, I’ll show her…” or “I’m going to teach this person a lesson…”
You down-vote positive reviews for any reason other than it was not helpful to your buying decision. e.g. You use down-voting to manipulate an author’s ranking as a form of punishment or retribution.
You threaten physical violence to an author.
You threaten to harm the reputation, career, sales, or income of a writer.
You accuse an author of buying reviews or gaming the system when you have no actual proof and only suppositions based on detective work that consists of reading reviews and finding them suspicious.

I’ve probably missed a few, but these are the ones that I’ve seen and/or experienced. If I think of any others, I’ll add them later; or you can comment below if you think of some I forgot.

At this point, I don't know what Casey supports anymore. She seems to support ending pen names so readers have an author's real name, just like the author will have the reader's real name. She also appears to crap on Anne Rice and STGRB.

Casey is a big time author who doesn't like a mysterious group of "bullies and trolls." She wants reviewers to shut up or present their real names so authors can presumably confront those who review them negatively. Casey might want to end pen names too. She's against STGRB, Anne Rice, and Amazon. Hell, I don't know anymore what and who she supports. I'm out.
Thanks Barbara, you certainly helped make things a lot clearer!
Casey is now saying she doesn't support Anne Rice and thinks STGRB is a bully site. That's all nice and well, but they're her allies in this crusade. On the opposing side are the readers harassed by STGRB. Casey's advocating readers either give Melissa their real names to help her stalk them or stop reviewing on Amazon.

Oh, and ending anon handles for reviewers might hurt erotica authors and that's sad, but she's not one of them, so whatever.

Finally, she's bothered people might not want to spend money on her books even though she supports taking away their privacy rights. How do you deal with an author who thinks that way?
Reply to post #929 (show post):

She is nuts.
I have whiplash from her swinging every which way.

Essentially, knowing every little about Anne Rice and the site that shall not be named decided to support them after reading an article. Instead if doing research on the situation, players, or checking out the voluminous scientific research on bullying, she rattles off some "rules". I would not want her as a lawyer since research and critical thought is beyond her.

Utter lack of intelligent thought and her refusal to actually listen to the commentators enraged me.
She said she didn't. I guess the words, 'you all are bullies,' doesn't count?

The STGRB blog post is insofar funny that Robynn, one of the LOSE admins has created those seven sock puppet accounts on goofreads to 1* star one of LH´s books. Talk about credibility and honesty. *snort*
