The Hangman's Daughter - Lee Chadeayne, Oliver Pötzsch

I have this! Now I just need to read it...
I should be able to read it too. :-)
Have it, too. I guess that means I'll be catching up on two historical fiction reads this month ... ;)
I've started. Anyone else? It looks like it has great drawings that my Kindle doesn't do justice to.
I started, but had to put it aside again after the first two chapters literally gave me nightmares. Don't know why exactly; I'm usually not this queasy. But there's something about the descriptions that totally creeped me out -- though YMMV obviously; also, I've got this in German, and I sort of hope for you that some of the edge has gotten lost in translation!

ETA: On the upside, it means that I'm making really good progress on The Colour of Poison, which I like a lot! ;)
I haven't started yet because I got distracted by that Medieval Underpants book. This is next on my to-read list plan, I swear. I have a paperback copy from the library. Just skimming through it, the only picture I see is the map at the front. Is that what you meant?
The prologue is rather gory for sure! But I am enjoying it so far. Jakob is a great character.

Pictures are popping up here and there throughout, but they are thumbnail sized on the Kindle. The map shows up too small to really use as well. Now that I go back & look, it does say illustrated edition...odd choice for the Kindle version I would think.
Yes, odd choice. Perhaps viewable on your computer though?

I did start last night, right before bed. I was a little concerned about starting then based on your comments, but fortunately I did not have nightmares. I must admit I snickered a bit at the end of the prologue when he fainted. I think it must not be as brutal in English.

Aside: I tried reading the sample of The Colour of Poison but I never actually finished it. This is what happens when I have to read on my phone. Admittedly, I have many samples on my ereader that are completely unread. I guess on-screen works best for previews for me.
Why do these people never notice that someone is following them?! (68% complete)

I'm not sure yet (65%).
Oh wait, we've met! Seriously?! (82%)

It gets better...there's a weird flashback where the second person is used all of a sudden. And it's not even used at the start of the flashback, to establish the structure of the thing, but near the end of it so it's just jarring.
The wheels are falling off this thing but not in the way I was afraid they would. lol

I finished it last night but put off writing a review. I'm not sure the wheels fell off exactly, but the words "obvious" and "inconsistent" come to mind regarding the plot and information on the "mystery".

(hide spoiler) The kids recognize the voices (when they're hiding)...then the kids don't recognize the voices...?(show spoiler)

See, this is what happens when I suggest reads!
