Discussion: Buddy read for November?

Is anyone up for a November buddy read, are we going to too busy with Stewart's Merlin trilogy.

I'm interested in reading one of these:

Secrets in the Mist by Anna Lee Huber: this is a brand new gothic by the author of the Lady Darby mysteries. I'm curious if this means that we are looking down the barrel of a resurgence in gothic romance publishing!

The India Fan by Victoria Holt: this is an oldie that I've not yet read. It was originally published in 1988, which makes it one of Holt's last gothics.

Tregaron's Daughter by Madeleine Brent: this one might take a bit more work to get a copy of - it's not available in ebook and is OOP. It is widely available used on Amazon, however. I've not read anything by Brent.

If there are other suggestions, feel free to toss them out!

I have Hubner new release on my TBR and looking forward to her take on gothic romance!
I've read -- and have copies of -- both The India Fan and Tregaron's Daughter.

The Huber book looks interesting, but is everyone going to be willing to plunk out the cash for it since it's likely not available at libraries or secondhand? That would be my only concern.

It might be available through the library, but yes, it's too new to be available secondhand. Let's see what everyone thinks!
And I went ahead & ordered a secondhand copy of Tregaron's Daughter through amazon sellers. It's supposed to arrive sometime in mid-November.
I have the Huber book on my "to-buy" list - I can order that today but it won't be here very quick; unless I can find a local seller. I don't think I realised it was released already...

We could hold off on the Huber for a month or so. Anything else readily at hand?

I just now ordered the Huber from BD, so at least it's on its way. :)

Currently I have one Mary Stewart on the pile - Thunder on the right (?) and a Victoria Holt - Curse of the Kings. I'd also be up for a re-read of Window on the Square by Phyllis Whitney, or I also have her Daughter of the Stars.

Or, I could just sit this one out and not hold everyone else up - we all know how long it might take me to have a book sent in, so please don't let my shipping woes complicate things. :)

There's an 'old-style' used book store in the next suburb over I might try to hit this weekend - the kind with piles and piles and a bit of everything. I might try to get there this weekend and see what else I can dig up, if anything (since gothic doesn't seem to have been big here).
The Anna Lee Huber one sounds interesting, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get a copy without dishing out some cash. Even if my library orders it, it usually takes about two to three months for the book to become available. And also, would I need to have read any of the Lady Darby, or would this story line be completely different? Just curious.

I would be interested in reading anything suggested, although I'm also participating in the Mary Stewart, Merlin trilogy buddy read, so I hope I have time to join in another buddy read--my reading list for the next two months is still kind of packed.

I guess, no matter which book, I'd have to make a library run and hope that they have it.

No, the Anna Lee Huber one is a new story line altogether - no connection to the Lady Darby books.
