I have a couple questions about the 'BL' square, and the more I think about my questions, the more obvious the answers seem. I guess the first question is just for clarification, really...

1. Let a BL friend choose your book! Post a list of 4 books - first one to comment chooses your next read.
-- Are the 4 books, any 4 books we want to read, then read whichever one BL friend chooses before moving on to next roll? Or do I need to wait for the next roll on next odd day, and choose 4 books based on what square/task I land on?

Also, on the 'BL' tasks that involve giving money to another player (2, 5, 11), will there be a list of all players to choose from? Or, I was thinking, maybe we could ask everyone playing BL-opoly to do a first check-in at the Player Bank discussion with their $20.00 starting amount, even if they aren't going to keep track of their bank there? Or maybe a separate post to check-in with?

I'm thinking that if I roll any of these tasks, I'm just going to do a random pick from all the players and would hate to miss anyone who isn't as active in the game as others.

On a separate note, I know that Moonlight's first post says we can keep track of our bank in the Player Bank discussion if we want to, so I'm taking that as, it's not really necessary to use that discussion forum; however, would it be preferred for all players to keep track in there?

Thanks!

And I'm assuming you don't have to read all three but you could. Or read 2 of the 3, but they only count to move forward if you finish them, or abandon them for the purposes of the game and only count as much as you've completed...?

I'm kinda hoping for "...will there be a list of all players to choose from..." that many of the players will tag their posts with booklikes-opoly. Unless helping back someone who just helped me, I might use a randomizer to pick la number 1-15 and pick that number down booklikes-opoly tagged post (http://booklikes.com/tag/booklikes-opoly )

(I'm not going to enter the drawing, though, so might be tweaking some gameplay and rules to suit myself.)

No worries Debbie!

Nope all books get converted for monetary value. Unless you hit a third double which puts you in jail, which means five dollars is being deducted. But hey, at least you will have some pages (money

1. Nope you get to choose any four books you want. First comment on your post though is how the book gets picked. Let us know here if you need someone to help with a task :-) you have to read the book to finish the task and bank the pages/money. Remember you either get to pass on a task/book, but you have to wait til next odd numbered date to roll. If you choose to read a book, you can't read until a) you finish and b) still have to wait for next odd numbered date.

2. You can use the discussion threads here (the bank discussion) to ask someone to donate pages/money or do a post. I plan on hitting up Char a lot :-D. Use the booklikesoply tag to find people who are playing or check the discussion threads.

3. You can track it there or on your blog post. I'm probably going to suggest we do a monthly check in that way we can all see whose playing, and that way go look up posts. That's always my favorite part.

Tannat. Yeah you don't have to read all three. I think I told Debbie that it's up to you. Technically you could read one and just decide to pass on books #2 and #3 and you would just wait to roll when you finish book #1 and the next odd numbered day comes up.

And yes remember DNFs do count. I think we said you have to read at least ten percent of the book though.

Remember if you choose to read all three as soon as you finish the book you can roll again!

The holds to wait to roll are there if you pass on reading a book or doing a BL task.

You guys can feel free to hit MR or I up (we can't win we are giving out the prizes :-D) or as you say go through the tag and look up people that way.

So to be clear, if I choose to complete the task from my roll and read a book I don't have to wait until the 17th to roll again? I thought we did.

Edited: The gameplay tutorial uses an example where you finish a book on the 16th and you have to wait to roll until the 17th.

Let me double-check with Moonlight first. But the way the rules read, as soon as you finish a book you can roll again. You're on hold from rolling til either you finish the book, decide to DNF or complete a BL task. If you pass on a card, then you would have to wait til the next roll day (odd numbered).

Well, if you don't have to wait until next odd calendar day to roll again so long as you finished your book -- I don't think I'll roll again when I get doubles. No need to risk a third double sending me to jail! (unless rules require rolling again with doubles)
I just thought of this: how are the payouts going to be determined for audiobooks? Because pages don't equal minutes of play time.
Also - on the BookLikes squares, #3: Let a BL friend choose your next ride! Post your plight, and see where the first person sends you!

Can you explain what 'ride' means? Does the BL friend choose a square on the board to send you? If so, can it be any square? (Like, can they send you to jail?)

Maybe for audiobooks you count pages of print edition instead of minutes of your audio edition. If not completed, % of total minutes listened to = equivalent % of total pages in print book?
I just thought of something. You know how in Monopoly, when you pass Go, you collect $200 dollars? It's a stretch, but are we doing something similar? Since it's not in the basic rules that Moonlight posted, I figure we probably won't be, but I decided it wouldn't hurt to ask. =D
Need help?
