Do you have any favorite mystery adaptations either television or movie, recent releases or black and white classics? Discuss them here!
I will put in my obligatory plug for the 2016 adaptation of And Then There Were None, which I just watched, and which I thought was just outstanding!
Themis-Athena and I both mentioned the Lord Peter Wimsey adaptations from the 1980's starring Harriet Walters as Harriet Vane which are outstanding, and Walters totally nails Harriet Vane!
I'm also curious about what everything thinks about the Kenneth Branagh adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express. Are you excited, or do you think it's a bad idea?
I like Hallmarks line of cozy mysteries though they are a lot different from the books. Still fun to watch. :)
I am curious about the new Murder on the Orient Express as well.
Does a spoof of the Golden Age of Crime count? Because if so, I have to mention my blog's namesake as the best - or at least my favourite - adaptation. :)
When it comes to adaptations of Miss Marple stories, I confess I prefer the ones done with Joan Hickson some years ago. I think she got a fine grip on the character, and the producers didn't try to shove Miss Marple into random non-series Christie novels, as they have sometimes in recent years.
As far as Poirot goes, David Suchet is the definitive Poirot.
