Anyone doing it? I've truncated all my recent reviews to one paragraph with BL/wordpress links, but am toying with going back and doing it to all of them.
Mine are either A. so short GR can have them, or "shell" reviews of about a sentence with "for a further review: BL link." Not done systematically yet, but as I come across them.
What I'm vacillating over is rating new reads over there. Of two minds. (The only shelf they get is "read.")
I tanked my profile and deleted all my content after the Amazon purchase, so I haven't had books or reviews on Goodreads for over six months. I still have an empty profile to keep in touch with some friends but I'm not giving them content.
I replaced all my GR reviews with links to those same reviews on my own website the moment I heard about the Amazon purchase. Also opened a BookLikes account already back then, though I didn't do anything with it just yet. When GR started their shelf and review deletion campaign back in September, I imported my entire book catalogue to BookLikes and deleted all of my books on GR, except for those on my "not-for-me" shelf, which is the only one of mine still remaining there (and which I've made exclusive, so it doesn't say anything about whether I have read a given book or am planning to read it).
Book ratings and reviews from now on will be strictly off GR (here and on my own site). Even a rating and a "read" or "to-read"-listing provides them with marketable data. I'm not willing to give them that any longer.
I only keep my GR profile to stay in touch with friends who have not made the move elsewhere (yet) -- and to participate in discussions in the "Everything BookLikes" group, or be able to "like" status updates and other contributions by friends, especially regarding the ongoing situation.
