Spamming blog posts.
I'm blocking them if they are following me, but I can't be bothered to follow the others only in order to be able to then block them. Those not following me therefore still get reported here.

And FWIW, my "blocked" list is up to 132 accounts as well. The first ones I blocked on the quiet. When it started becoming an epidemic, I in turn started reporting them here.

The BL folks may not be interested in looking at this thread, but if it ever should come to the point where it matters, they should absolutely NOT be able to say "we had no idea this was going on / was so as bad as we're only now learning it is."

I think the auto-follow assignments are based, in some way, on the book categories we say in our settings that we like them (the more categories you include, the greater the likelihood you'll be picked for auto-assigned followers based on the matches the system performs) -- and I wouldn't rule out, either, that it also seems to matter how many auto-assigned followers you block. At any rate, I used to get many more auto-assigned followers when I was not yet blocking spammers en masse ... but the number of my auto-assignments has dropped significantly (overall -- legit accounts as well as spammers) since I systematically started blocking spammers.
I have 684 blocked accounts. Almost all are spammers of one kind or another, almost all from 2018 on. This is pretty much a problem of no administration here at BL. I checked a couple of random blocked accounts and they're still here. Not active, of course, but not removed either.

I block the spammers routinely. I go through my "friends" list once every three or four days and block the new spammers. I still get two or three new ones every single day.

The scary part is that now they are virtually out and out prostitution links. This one was in my "friends" list today.

http://modelservices.booklikes.com/ features a semi-nude woman in the profile pic and states:

Bangalore escorts are so seductive that people can't resist sleeping or having fun with her. You can have some of the best moment of life with them with all the privacy and far from all the stress and issues.

Maybe the EU rules on solicitation of prostitution are more liberal than the US, but I find this just a bit squicky.
Yeah, 684 plus now the 7 or 8 I just blocked.

Far from all the stress and issues? Is there such a place? I sure as hell haven't found it! ;-)

Oh, and another of today's blockees looked like a potential porn site. Started out advertising sneakers, then went to pregnancy and new moms, but the picture was "boudoir." I'm not gonna link to that one.
Has anyone here ever been in a pyramid scheme? If not, I have some essential oils you may be interested in.

I blocked 10 spammer accounts this morning, an accumulation over the past two or three days, because I was notified by email that I had acquired a NEW spammer follower, not as assigned by BL but as an active follower. I blocked that account, too.

Since this morning, five more spam followers have been added to my account. I have just blocked them all.

Groan -- now it even extends to law firms. Not sure how clearly they're sailing to unethical behaviour in their home jurisdiction or, for that matter, in Poland ... (in Germany, this would be clearly illegal and could expose the firm to severe sanctions.)

Yup. This seems to be a prolific one. :(

You know you can delete their spam "comment", right?

I don't block unless they're following me -- I'm in no mind to befriend people only in order to be able to block them (as that is the only way to do it). This one is not following me, thank God.

Btw, if you have a comparatively large followers list, you need to wait until the page has loaded completely -- blocking won't work while the page is still loading.
