Jumping into the fray here ...

Not sure if this is a pet peeve or me being unable to suspend enough disbelief, but ... um, can we talk about the pervasiveness of vaginal orgasms in romance novels? Multiple ones, at that? All of the time? I just ... really, I can't wrap my mind around ...

::cough::

I read somewhere that only 30 percent of women are capable of having vaginal orgasms (without some manual stimulation of the clitoris). So apparently, the heroines in most of the romance novels I read are in the Lucky 30 Percent Club. No, it doesn't squick me out to read about the heroine getting off strictly through intercourse, but I find myself thinking, "Really? Wow. That lucky b*tch ..."

It's a fantasy, I get it. We all want to be the heroine getting off every single time with only the aid of the hero's magical penis. So I get why authors are writing it that way.

Do readers want to read sex scenes where women are frustrated that men come too quick and leave them hanging in the wind, or aren't attentive enough to take the time to learn what makes their woman tick...my guess is no. A portion of the Unlucky 70% probably have enough of that IRL.

I only have issue wrapping my mind around it when the surrounding circumstances (as mentioned previously) don't allow me to suspend belief as easily that it's happening like that for that particular couple. I read something recently where the heroine had multiple Os from anal sex and a little reach around action...now that's a lucky bitch!!! I called bullshit on that one. But it was still pretty hot! ;) ::shrug::

I was thinking about maybe adding that earlier, but really I agree with INPO on this. And I do read clitoral stimulation a good amount of times. So I think about it, but it's not one of those things that bothers me all that much.
