I thought it might be interesting to have a place to talk about our current reads, across all the sub-genres. Maybe even leave a link to our reviews when we're done.
I'm currently working my way through Angelique by Sergeanne Golon. It's still early days yet but I'm liking it so far. The writing is so tiny though so I have to take it a page or two at a time or these aging eyes of mine freak out :)

They're from the 1950's I believe. My mum says she remembers reading them when. Anyone read any of hers? I think there are about 11 of them in the series.
I've usually got a few on the go at once but try to have a few different genres so I don't get burned out. I'm listening to Drums of Autumn (again) on cd too. Until I get through the 7 arcs that need to be reviewed within the next 3 weeks though I can't see me getting a chance to get back to my normal read's month :(

I'm just nosey and interested to see what everyone reads and what they think of it...and have it all in once place so as to encourage my laziness :D

They're great!! I tried to add the cover of my one but it wasn't in the database. I bought it used and It's probably about 50 years old but someone took really good care of it and it's still so lovely. The page edges are coloured and it's just overall a lovely book to own.

I looked up Sergeanne Golon on http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk. The info on her is interesting.

I'm reading Carousel of Hearts by Mary Jo Putney. It's OK, but not great.

Sergeanne's (or Anne's) story is fascinating. Just show's how time's change. Her book was only 'worthy' if it carried her husband's name too.

I'm taking it slow and it's looking like it might be a great one so far :D
Wow! Just noticed the price of the Angelique one's have shot up in price! Yikes. I paid about £54 for the first 3 books (which made me feel at bit faint at the time) but now they're stupid money!
I've just finished Highland Surrender by Tracy Brogan and I didn't love it. Set in Scotland in the Reign of King James and with a backdrop of clan feud's and a 'Forced marriage by Royal Decree' trope I thought it would be better. It was light too light on the History side and the romance was mostly one sided until about 60% into it and I skimmed a lot. Other's seem to like it though...maybe it's me :/

I've read the Angelique books through book #5, have the rest of them around here somewhere. I think it's 8 or 9 books total, and some are broken down into two - I think mostly in the UK editions. There is a strong romantic element, but these pack a lot of history in them. She gets into some wild scrapes. Don't let those covers fool you, yes she has lovers, but most of it is behind closed doors.

Reading that now too, how are you liking it? I'm a little annoyed that our heroine is a bit of a milksop. :0/

I just finished, what a disappointment! :( Boring, drawn out mystery and hello, I pretty much hated all the main characters. What a drag!

UGH, I need something AWESOME!! Why is that so hard?!

I'm slowly, slowly working through Angelique #1...the writing is tiny! I'm so used to big font on the kindle that I'm almost peering to try and read this one, lol. Very good so far though. A proper Historical. One of my favourite films is The Three Musketeers (any version but especially the one with Oliver Reed) and this reminds me of that.

Nothing at all wrong with frivolous! I've read a lot of Celeste Bradley's book and love them.

One of the few books I've reread is The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie. What an awesome book!
