Beloved is the story of Sethe, a former slave who escaped to the free state of Ohio, her daughter Denver, and the ghost that they are haunted by. There is a lot to unpack in this novel; thematically there are issues of slavery, race, mothers and daughters, PTSD, and structurally there's post moderni...

It was physically painful for me to read as it resulted in a bunch of confusion, dissociation, and h...

This is one of those books that is going to stay with me for a long time. It is not often that a book is simultaneously as charming as it is complex, but Song of Solomon is definitely that.Currently at the top of my favorite books this year.

I could’ve started this review with Joe Trace. Joe Trace is searching for the narrator of this tale in the same way that he was searching for his mother “Wild” in this book. Sometimes, I felt like I needed a tracker to help me track down my own ideas about this book. At times, the book was so easy...

God Help The Child, Toni Morrison For me, this was a tender story about growing up black with all of the pain and hardship that may one day be rewarded with success and joy. The struggles of the children that witness or suffer from the senseless crime and prejudice coming from within their own commu...
