It's dark and depressing but in an interesting way for the most part. There were some cool panels that would relate 3 or 4 story lines in a single commentary. The ending was definitely unexpected.
Watchmen is probably the most technically perfect Graphic Novel ever created. It is like the War and Peace of comic books. It has been so influential that a lot of its innovations now seem cliche, but Watchmen did do them first. On the downside, while Watchmen was not the first dark superhero sto...
Set in 1985 this graphic novel shows a very different world, one where Nixon was still in the White House and whole world stood on the brink of world war 3. One were masked adventurers (super heroes) are outlawed.I wanted to like this, given the reviews - that this is an iconic piece of literature ...
Everyone seems to think that Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight is the best superhero movie. I respectfully disagree, of course, because I'm a film snob. I won't say that Watchmen is any better a film (it's worse), but the source material is infinitely better. In some ways that makes the film versi...
I was looking forward to reading this book. I had heard and read about it, and even watched the movie adaptation (which, in my opinion, is not as good as the book itself) before reading it. I wasn't disappointed. While this book probably must have had a much greater impact at the time the comic firs...
I was ill-equipped to fully appreciate this book. It was painfully slow-going at times (that's just me + the medium), but I did really enjoy it. A billion times better than the movie. I think I'll have to read it again someday.
Although I used to read quite a few comics as a child, I have never read a graphic novel before. I've tried a couple of times but couldn't seem to get used to dividing my attention between the text and the images. I would just read the words, barely glancing at the pictures and therefore only gettin...
I was trying to think of how to write a coherent review of this one. Then I realized it was impossible, so I should stop fretting. This was terrible, a horrible book. But also SO GOOD.I can't even talk about the plot, because it sounds like it's on drugs. Oh, you think I should try?Uh, okay, there's ...
A very cynical look at superheroes and what it means to be a superhero. Rorschach is the lynchpin of the story, a pretty repellent man who insists on answers to his questions and hunts for answers in a world where superheroes exist and where this brings out subtle changes. Yes, it's a bit dated with...
So, that blew my freaking mind. I actually feel sick to my stomach, and unable to come up with an intelligent review. I'm not sure I even want to bother. Alan Moore hates people, but the alternatives are so much worse. It's late, and I should be asleep, and Jack and Rexella Van Impe are muted on the...
