I just wasn't crazy about this book. The characters weren't fully realized, in fact, I failed to really connect with any of them. If I don't fall for at least one character in a story, it's no good for me. The voices were off. My 11-year-old daughter stated, "What 10-year-old would say that?!". ...
This is a nice, homey story about a girl and her extended family of neighbors and friends. It's a really nice summer book and evokes the season and setting very well.
